I have this game from a humble bundle deal but never had the time to play it. How is it in terms of difficulty? I’ve never played dark souls or any souls-like genre before.

I was very intrigued as a souls fan and someone who likes anime but I personally found the gameplay extremely lacking. Nothing feels fresh to me, feels like a mediocre attempt at a souls like with an anime skin.

I really wanted to like this game but it is brutal. Huge difficulty spike when you reach the Cathedral, took forever to get past that and it doesn’t get much better after. Just became completely unfun.
I beat Demon Souls remake and Bloodborne with minimal issues but this was just constant.
Eventually even common enemies started feeling like minibosses and all of the bosses have these huge AoE attacks that are super hard to avoid.
Really wish there were an easy mode to just enjoy the story.

Glad so many people are getting to experience this game! Had a blast with it last year. If you find yourself stuck in an area that looks like a church biome ripped straight out of Dark Souls, USE A GUIDE. That area is a maze and you won’t find the way out alone.
I thought the plot was interesting at first but it was really predictable. Also the gameplay is so repetitive and there is almost no difficulty spike ever. It’s still a good game but probably the worst soulslike I’ve played.
That character creator is still the best ever though.

While I usually play Japanese games with JP voiceover (if available of course), I definitely recommend playing Code Vein with the English voice. They’ve done a great job👏👏👏.
Also, definitely play it! This is such a hidden gem. Gameplay is fun but story and music are phenomenal!

Useful to know here- if you dodge roll off a platform, you get more distance. You probably could’ve made the jump as you originally planned by rolling off the platform.

Thought this was just going to be an average anime souls like, but I enjoyed the shit out of this game. Way better than I would have thought.
My god I enjoyed the game but almost quit because the sidekick’s constant quips were annoying the shit out of me…
