The thing is drunk drivers are distracted by flashing lights which is why so many highway patrol officers cars get hit when they pull people over. Going overboard here can actually be more unsafe then just simple reflective gear

This is basically what drivers in my city expect all cyclists to do.
“He came out of nowhere, officer! I couldn’t see a thing! Why, oh why wasn’t he wearing a reflective safety vest and bright yellow pants?”
But then they also complain if you use flashing bike lights because it’s “blinding”, while their pick up has 10 billion watt LED headlights.
This man would be ran the fuck over by someone in an f150 or ram in the US, and it wouldn’t be an accident.
It STILL doesn’t guarantee a driver will see the guy
