I loved seeing those buildings as a kid.
It was a ballsy design in its simplicity.
Would have loved to see that pitch meeting.
Two rectangles! What an architectural genius!
They were truly hideous.
“I’ma Gawdzirra”
Did they update it after the 9/11?
Identity theft is not a joke Jim!
What are these? Skyscrapers for ants?
Guys guys, I’ve developed a fundamentally genius idea. What if they were rectangles? Hmm?
Surely it wasnt necessary to build the model.
“Wheres your models, Minoru?”
“Its just two prisms, mate, not hard to imagine”
“What is this, a trade center for ants?”
“Yamasaki-san, that movie won’t come out for another 37 years.”
I was on the observation deck in august of 2001. Have pictures of the top, the gold statue in the middle and one from the statue of liberty.
Our Yamasaki, known as One Woodward in Detroit, is one of my favorites. I used to work in property management and assisted in managing 500 Griswold, known as The Guardian (Yamasaki’s neighbor) and would have lunch on the roof (41st floor+) and would regularly stare at One Woodward. Its lines are amazing.
I wrote ‘ not “ you idiots! Anyone know where we can get a dwarf.
In Troy, MI. I had lunch with me of the last employees for that architectural firm. He was an accountant helping to wind down the company as they were shutting down. They still had the paper plans for WTC.
As an Architect myself….cool…but they were just big boxes. The real impressive people of these Skyscrapers are the Structural Engineers who did A LOT of math to make sure these things stayed standing…..ya know from forces other than airplanes colliding into them.
Before the infamous gamer moment
No room for the antenna in the north tower. 😄

I went up to windows on the world as a kid. It was so neat but I have a vivid memory of riding a few elevators up to the top. It was nauseating to watch the events of 9/11.
I know it’s more complex but it kinda seems funny to say someone “designed”
Just two elongated rectangular cuboids. Such a boring, unimaginative and zero creativity shape the word design doesn’t seem to quite fit.
Be funny if one of them photo bombed the shot with a paper airplane
Shouldn’t have skimped on the structural beams, Yamasaki……
Reminds me of that tragedy
Are we gonna tell him? I mean, someone’s got to tell him right?
