Needs context
They may be buddies looking for wives.
Wow! Who know Miles Teller was that old!
This is heartbreaking.
Shame they didn’t live to see it 😢
I want to get a time machine and punch whichever one of them made that sign, because they may not be straight, but that’s no excuse for your type to not be straight. That second line is just a tragedy.
At first I thought this was fake then I saw the other pictures and it made me sad that people denied them the happiness and fulfillment that they deserved.
It’s from a coffee table book titled “Loving: A Photographic History of Men in Love, 1850-1950”. It’s a collection of old photos found at estate sales and thrift shops.
Aww, look at these two bachelors looking for wives. I bet they were roomates, too.

They are just Homiesexuals.
Oh, they are homosexual?
At first I thought it was for some strange tinder of the time.
Fellas, is it gay to want to marry the homie?
Of course the cutest guys in the room are gay…:)
Ok at first I thought that it was two young guys advertising themselves as eligible bachelors lol
But how do we really know that they wanted to marry each other and aren’t just posting to find someone to marry?
I’m very supportive of gay marriage but it’s awfully hypocritical to assume and judge
Gotta wonder if its only two young guys looking for wives? Sort of an early photographic want ad.
Couldn’t this just be friends saying they are looking for a wife? I mean I don’t care if they are gay or not but this dosent look like that
These guys were definitely the basis for Cornelius and Barnaby in Hello, Dolly!

“boy howdy it sure is dangerous living in these repressive times where we have to stay secretive. Let’s pose for a dangerously incriminating photograph that could get us killed.”
These are bachelors advertising that they’re looking for wives, not gay men with a poor sense of self preservation.
They look like twins
Um, it was also common for men, especially brothers to make adds like this basically saying they were looking for wives, it’s actually very VERY unlikely they were homosexual, historical facts actually matter.
No disrespect intended but I believe that these two are looking for wives. This was not so uncommon a listing in some places in the past. Another reason I think this is because of the wording of the sign. No one would assume that they were married to each other in their day. I could be wrong of course but I think this photo is missing a lot of context and that modern people have a propensity to read assumptions into it.
Are we sure we are interpreting this right?
Photos cost A LOT back then. Maybe they put this up in order to find a wives and split the bill on the ultra-expensive photograph?
Is that Tom Scott?
Just two doods being doods.
The guy on the left looks like Tom Scott
neat
Not gay. Just two young men trieng to find future wives. Look for primary sources before believing writers with agendas.
“Confirmed bachelors who live together”
The guy on the left’s pretty cute.
My stupid ass thought they were trying to find dates.
This must be the guy they based
Alfred E. Neuman on from Mad magazine no?
We’re all gay today it seems
Hell yeah 🙂
Okay but why does the lad on the left look like Tom Scott
How do we know they meant each other…?
Gonna get down voted to hell but. Wasn’t there a story about this exact photo where they talked about how men would split the cost of getting a photo done so they both could use it to send into various agencies that used them to help them find wives? I might be wrong but i could have sworn i saw something about this exact photo once.
Wrong. They are looking for wives the whole they were gay has been disproven.
LOL people probably thought it was two bachelors advertising themselves to women. In fact, come to think of it do we know it wasn’t that?
They look like brothers
They’re just roommates and mean that as an ad to find wives, you know. They just had to hold that sign together because it was so heavy.
These guys are looking for girls to marry each of them, not to marry each other.
Pretty sure this got exposed as being part of a want ad looking for wives, they wanted to double date.
Ian McKellen is older than he looks.
Jesus fucking christ.
