I haven’t played AC Odyssey. What’s wrong with it?
I mean, I’ve played AC3 so I know the series started to decline a lot and I’ve played AC Origins so I know it’s not at all the same type of games as the first games were, but apart from that was AC Odyssey really that bad? I’ve mostly heard people say it was good.

The Witcher 3 is good but it’s a matter of personal taste and I thought the combat was pretty bad and the fact that all the side quests were given by npcs that looked the same quite jarring.

Odyssey is probably the most I like from the rpg ones. It’s actually good. The draw back of the game is you reach a point where it forces you to do side missions to continue.

    It’s no Witcher 3
Still, one of the best Assassin’s Creed games ever made
    Combat : 9/10
    Story : 8.5/10
    Gameplay: 8/10
    Overall a great game
Still, Witcher 3 is one of the best games ever made
    No competition

Odyssey is mechanically better than Witcher. And Witcher has a slightly better storytelling in certain missions. But both games are very good.

That’s why reviews are subbjective. I personally liked ac Odyssey more, but ain’t gonna blame anyone for liking the Witcher 3 more.

TW3 has very interesting story and characters and mediocre gameplay

Odyssey has mediocre story and characters and fairly decent gameplay

Remember seeing video previews about Odysseys years ago and apparently Ubisoft did take influence from Witcher 3 while making Odyssey.

The Witcher 3 is in a league of its own, for sure. But Odyssee was a good game and downright phenomenal if you’re into the greco-roman era. I played Odyssee during the early days of the pandemic when everybody was locked down and it felt like a tiny holiday. Go see ancient Athens, explore the ruins of Knossos, jump from the akropolis of korinth, sail across the agean sea at your own, leasurely pace and find all sorts of mysteries, some well known, some less so, visit famous battle sites, and on and on and on – it was long and I can see its flaws but that game kept me sane.

Legit never listen to anything but actual USER REVIEWS. Fuck everything else. Nobody is going to review a game for you honestly, NOBODY. If you rely on someone who can get hush money to review something honestly, ***you are a complete idiot. Welcome to reality.***

Unironically apart from story AC Odyssey is absolutely just as good if not better than Witcher 3; especially the world and combat

I think this is a great example of why numerical scores for games is a flawed way of looking at them. I think both games succeed very well at doing what they tried to do, but that’s not worth much if you’re in the mood for the kind of experience one offers and not the other.

Well, Ubisoft lifted everything cool from The Witcher 3, implemented it into Origins, iterated on it and learnt some lessons on open world from Horizon Zero Dawn and that’s how we got Odyssey.

If only Elden Ring could have released before Valhalla, then they would’ve had another great open world game to copy, and maybe it wouldn’t have ended up so bad.

Btw, The Witcher 3 ends up on every single “overrated games” thread in this sub. It’s definitely not as widely enjoyed as some make it out to be.

  • UltimateTrattles

I mean whats the point? Witcher 3 is a medium game at best with a good story. Does not at all deserve a 93. More like an 80.

  • agarciax

    Don’t trust reviews that much.

My favorite game of all time received like a 7.5 or something so yeah I only use it to avoid complete trash.

  • Reavie2

I’m really looking forward to the Witcher 3 next gen update as I’ve never managed to get past the first ten hours or so and needed an excuse to have another crack at it.

Odyssey on the other hand sucked me right in and I enjoyed the 100+ hours I put in (and didn’t suffer the fatigue I got from Vahalla).

There is inherently nothing wrong with Odyssey.
But it is a poor mans (persons) Witcher 3.
The extra dialogue choices are there to give the illusion of depth without actually adding any. Most of the side quests are uninspiring & forgettable. As opposed to W3’s side quests often being just as interesting or engaging as the main story.

How do you loose everything you worked for just for one unfinished game VS How you still mad about the same empty world formula with time-savers.

Odyssey is a really good game, especially by Ubi standards. Probably my favourite in AC series outside of Ezio trilogy, and that aged poorly. Odyssey had serviceable and varied combat (stealth, melee, ranged, ships, etc), tons to do, semi-decent main and side missions, gorgeous and interesting historical setting with lots of things to learn.

Witcher 3 is strong in some areas, but INCREDIBLY weak in others. Combat and build variety are trash, there’s a bunch of broken stuff last time I played (such as all horde enemies, like the rats and the djinn flies scaling individually per entity on higher difficulty, meaning rats basically 1-shot you, and you can’t dodge around them or roll over them, they literally body-block you and zerg you to death attacking your ankles, it’s hilariously bad). The world is largely barren (points of interest aren’t that interesting). All Witcher 3 had going for it was the story and storytelling, which were admittedly absolutely top tier. Everything else was mediocre though.

I would absolutely recommend both games to everyone. But I have met people who couldn’t get into Witcher 3 at all because of how awful and limited the combat is, and they just couldnt’ connect with the story, especially with Yen being a snooty b-word that she so often is.

If I had to pick just one game of the entire AC series, I’d pick Odyssey hands down. Valhalla just wasn’t good enough, too much whitewashing of what vikings did, among other things, while Odyssey was pretty open about Spartans being slavers and baby-killers had quests dealing with it. If I could pick 2 AC games, I’d recommend the very first, to see where series began and why it was so popular (hint: present day portions of the game were the main game, not the aferthought), and then see where the series ended up. For me series peaked in Odyssey. Origins was still on-the-rails storytelling, but Odyssey gave you agency. Valhalla was a step back or step sideways in too many areas.

I enjoyed odyssey way more than witcher III, i think the landscape was beautiful in odyssey, the music really was great though the combat in valhalla is a huge upgrade

  • Grievance69

Odyssey isn’t that bad, just say it you hate Assassin’s Creed now, Black Flag was the last good one blah blah blah.

YAWN. Valhalla and Odyssey were both fun as fuck. Omg le Witcher 3 being close to Assassins Creed how dare they!
