Weird Al is a national treasure.
Al making the accordian sexy.
When he was 21, Al looked 35. Over 40 years later, now in his 60’s, Al looks 42.
“My Sharoma”
When aliens come and ask who is in charge i think we should send them to Al.
Thank you so much for sharing this piece of nostalgia. That was great to watch.
I have that live recording from Dr Demento on a cassete tape! I held the tape recorder up to the radio. I never thought about that it was live. Cool!
Queen+Weird Al= somehow punk rock. Prove me wrong
He was taken from us too soon…
Tom Snyder on the “Tomorrow Show” literally smoked cigarettes on the air.
The whole time the guy was talking I kept thinking “I bet he looks 40, I bet he looks 40, I bet he looks 40” I wasn’t disappointed
Mr. Shwartz is putting is the work on the accordion case.
Tom Snyder was a lovable idiot
Weird Al is the best in his niche. He owns it.
And only about a month after this episode, the Plasmatics blew up a car.
Jon Scwartz is still Al’s drummer for all recordings and live shows. 40+ years is a good gig!
The amount of confidence you could see on his face even back then is just damn inspiring.
First heard him on the Dr. Dimento show Sunday nights on KFOG. What a treasure!
Loved him and Commander Cody!
I remember this! I miss The Tom Synder Show! He always had something funny/weird going on!
😯
And here I am in 2023 and my kids demand that we Spotify shuffle Weird Al on car trips and this is one of their favourite tracks
I’m surprised he recovered from this performance.
Weird Al is like 63? I need to know his diet. That’s inanity.
Milo’s got some interesting jams
Legend. The Bob Ross of music.
John Hamm was in his band?
Eat It Just Eat it.
I remember thinking Tom was pretty good-looking for an old dude.
Why do all Weird Al songs make more sense lyrically than the original songs.
He turned singing Jingle Bells, Batman Smells, as a kid, into a massively successful career.
He made it big in the 80s with his spoof songs. He wasn’t relevant for very long but his name is remembered. Not an easy act to sell.. that’s for sure. Man the early 80s was still pretty wholesome considering nowadays.
Welll, .. he’s come a long way
All of those successful hits that were parodies of his originals. RIP Alfred.
Has any performer every had so much fun across their career?
Where are his shoes
I loved Tom Snyder….The world needs more Tom Snyders now. His laugh was the best. The fool should’ve stopped smoking sooner though. He is missed!
What a fucking legend, shame what Madonna did to him, may he R.I.P.
I am honored to say that I have taken a dump in that very bathroom
My husband has my 4yr old hooked on another one rides the bus. I’ve recently heard her ask other kids her age if they know it. The parents think it’s funny at least 😂
“We want to get on the road before that Dr. Demento starts stinking up the airwaves.”
Username checks out
Is Al in the Accordion Hall of Fame yet?
When people ask me which celebrity I would vote for president. This guy.
Wow, the day after I was born! And Taco Tuesday to boot!

This man deserves a whole wing dedicated to him in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
In 1980, I lived in LA and my girlfriend (now wife) lived in San Diego. I drove down every Friday night. Dr Demento made the trip worthwhile and Weird Al was the star.
I saw a pic floating around reddit recently it was Weird Al, and he looked pretty hot. Couldn’t believe it was actually him.
Consider the fact that a guy named “Weird Al” is still a relevant artist, over forty years later. Now think of all the other musicians his career has outlived.

No one predicated that in 1981.
I saw Weird Al on Valentine’s Day this year. It was my best gift ever. He and his band were amazing.
His musical skills have definitely developed since then, but one thing he had right from the beginning was CONFIDENCE, baby.
And Jon “Bermuda” Schwartz doesn’t get nearly enough credit for being right there with him the whole time.
