I didn’t like Redfall, and most people didn’t, but Gollum was very very bad. Both were technically unfinished, but at least Redfall had more than 2 gameplay mechanics.
Kong I can’t vote for, if it did poorly and no one’s heard of it, it’s in that grey area of bad, but not bad enough.
Edit: Holy fuck, Gollum was so bad it killed the studio.
IMO, Redfall wins on the basis of “largest distance between what it could have been and what it ended up being”.
It’s between Rise of Kong and the New walking dead game. gollum could Atleast be fun in a goofy trash way, and redfall is bad but not on that level

Redfall is not that bad. Sure its Arkane’s worst game. But is it a 4 out of 10 or a 1 out of 10 like Gollum and King Kong? Nope. They can probably salvage that game where the other 2 has zero hope. That said. They should never have released the game. If it came out 1 year later and was actually fixed, it still wouldn’t be a good game. But the internet wouldn’t be clowning on it it either. Add, Walking Dead to the list, definitely the worst Walking Dead game and we have had many bad ones.

I know Gollum and Kong are both bad but Redfall was being made by Arkane. I’ve been playing Dishonored lately and it’s incredible how these are both from the same developer.
Redfall was the only one with some actual expectations. Making it the greatest disappointment.
Skull Island is a misfire from the start to produce a game in time for the Monarch show.

Redfall should win WGOTY because Arkane aren’t some shovelware studio. You’d expect so much more from them after Dishonoured and Deathloop.
Where is PlayStation Forspoken, the game was so bad, the studio was shutdown by Sony PlayStation in this 2023

Redfall can’t be WGOTY, it at least had a budget (that they squandered). You can’t convince me otherwise that Gollum and Rise of Kong are just money laundering operations and weren’t meant to be real games

For me it’s Redfall, it was made by Arkane, there’s no excuse for the state that game is in. Clearly piss poor management with the ‘it will be fine for a gamepass game’ attitude, absolutely no regard for the consumer. Kong and Gollum look awful, but they weren’t made by big studios with massive budgets like redfall was

I can’t believe I’m actually saying this but redfall doesn’t deserve to even be compared to the other two, it’s boring as hell but at least it’s a game. Gollum sucks too but it’s still somehow not as bad as rise of Kong, it’s like they released the game while it was still in the prototyping phase. It’s the sort of thing you’d show as a proof of concept to investors not a full release

I didn’t play it myself but the Angry Joe review of Gollum was one of the funniest I have ever seen.
Redfall wasn’t anywhere near the worst game of the year. It was mediocre but at least had effort put into it.
Add Starfield to the list
IMO Redfall hands down. Are Kong, Gollum, and TWD worse gameplay-wise? Sure. But nobody really expected those to be great to begin with. Redfall had everything – great studio, great concept, great marketing, Xbox 1P hype and day one Game Pass release… and absolutely flopped. It is the epitome of failed AAA gaming. Have they even fixed the game? Nobody cares to find out. That’s why it’s WGOTY.
