I have good internet but every time I play mario kart online I disconnect.
I’ve been pretty happy with my Switch, but I wouldn’t really care if it broke today (besides losing out on the money I spent on it of course). It’s great for my son and he has a lot of games but there’s not a lot of games I really care about for it.
I hate the fact that you can’t play games on a second switch unless it’s under the account you bought it under. My son has a switch and he has one but when I buy a game from the eShop he can’t play it unless it’s under my profile.
Some games nintendo makes are good. Most are just nostalgic cash grabs. But yes the online service is shit compared to all others
They don’t even make good games
Nintendo suffers from some serious corporate “Not invented here” syndrome. It doesn’t matter to them that online services has basically been solved elsewhere.
Isn’t that the fking truth?
I had to call my ISP when they made ‘improvements’ so they would give me the proper DNS address to connect to.
I could suddenly join raids in Pokemon again. I still can’t travel in Animal Crossing though. Fiber optic cable internet, even got an ethernet adapter for the Nintendo Switch. No dice. 🙃
Mine was shit, till I found out my NAT type was strict and made it open. After that, my problems were gone and it was snooth.
Unbeknownst to the young gamers. This is intentional. Nintendo is single handedly encouraging classic gaming parties and hangouts. Nothing beats getting your friends over, ordering a few pizzas and gaming until you pass out. Whether it is some time in the night or the next morning.
Pro tip: disconnect your friends controller when they go to the bathroom. That way when you un-pause, they die.
Sometimes I wonder if Nintendo cripples its own online environments just so they don’t have to act as content moderators.
Unpopular opinion but I think Nintendo is very unfriendly to its consumers. I think they overprice many of their products, lock everything up behind walled gardens and release weak games that don’t innovate as much as people give them credit for. Not to mention their hardware is so half-baked it’s honestly a bit of a rip off
Perfect for me who hates playing/getting demolished online! 😄
They made a couple good games in the 90s and have been milking your wallet ever since. Screw nintendo
Nintendo is pretty sure that this “internet” thing is just a fad.
Or lack there of…
What are you talking about? I play a lot of Splatoon, and *-poof-*
I always felt like Nintendo approached online connectivity begrudgingly. If they could get away with making all their games offline and single player/couch co-op only, I feel like they would. It always felt like they were like “fine! We’ll add online connectivity, but just barely and the Nintendo way!” So you get situations where you can’t use voice chat in Animal Crossing unless you have a totally separate app for your phone. Or the complete lack of chat in Mario Kart. Or really clunky online features in Animal Crossing. And super long friend codes instead of regular usernames to add people with. But that’s just my intuition, I’m not a very big Nintendo fan
this is fine, i think we need LESS online nonsense. before consoles got internet access our games actually had fewer QA issues and weren’t allowed to be released with less content and game ruining bugs. and those that were (superman 64) were absolutly torn apart and lost the company both money and reputation
I think they charge a fair price for first party titles and their hardware, while underpowered, is innovative in other ways and I appreciate that.. but it’s still no excuse for having shit online services. Switch needs out of game parties/lobbies and voip/messaging DESPERATELY. And themes, but less critically lol.
I really don’t like Nintendo, they’re customer support in general is terrible, I always get the feeling they don’t like they’re players, they over charge for products especially old one’s, they sue their own fans….
My only Interaction with the service has been for free and it was pretty slovenly handled from my Impression of Mario Maker content delivery.
Nintendo game would be so much better if the console is not so underpowered
For IT people out there, do you think its the console hardware or just Nintendo ‘s back end for poor connections?
For the Wii I recall it being a wireless B network adapter inside. (Which was like 5 years behind in tech I think)
Why is the shop so damn slow?
This problem has persisted since the launch of the Wii. 🙁
