Here’s an example. I see it on movies with gigantic budgets, it’s very strange. Is it because they often make the posters after shooting is done and can’t get the actors to pose? Or is it to cause it’s more eye catching than a regular picture of a person? Ive always wondered

Get the guys that did all those Polish knock off posters for Hollywood flicks in the 80’s. They’ll fix this.

I used to think it was airbrushing for vanity’s sake, but I’ve thought about it more and I think, given that it seems to be more often on ‘ensemble’ style posters (ie photos taken at different times in different places or drawn from different scenes), that it’s them trying to equalise the light.
