Oof! Right in the feels
What I’d do to be here again
I want to go back to there.
Wish i could say they were since i didnt have anything in that room back then ๐
That is definitely the bedroom of a Middle Class/Upper Middle Class kid from the midwest.
Edit/ I made a separate post but this is definitely a rich ass kid. Why? The window. These are custom made allowing the window to open into the room and not the typical slide up/down set-up.
I donโt know about you but I always got yelled at for being too close to the TV, and the controller cord was only like 5ftโฆ
Needs to be about 4โ closer to the TV.
Not sure if this is about being a kid with less responsibilities or about gaming being a one-and-done purchase without updates, live services, grinding for battlepasses, etc. Or both.
Times weren’t simpler, we just didn’t realize how complex things actually were
Edit: brains don’t melt because of the internet stop trying to say that, the internet inherently makes the world better and people who say otherwise are old
I loved how itโs SNES, but with remnants of NES on the walls. Like, thatโs how it would be
Stop lying : nobody plays that far from the TV !
That kid is trying to kill his mom with that skateboard placement.
Nirvana merch has embraced that smiley logo, but I don’t remember it being on posters and stuff until “From The Muddy Banks of the Wishkah” came out, but that wasn’t until 1996. I know the image goes back earlier, but it feels out of place in this particular slice of life. It’s only bothering me because everything else checks out and I was way into Nirvana at the time.
And watch as the comments are flooded with people who weren’t even born yet getting all “nostalgic” ๐คฃ
ofc times are simpler when a family has infinite money and spoils their kid with it
Back when you had to invite real people over to play multiplayer
You can still do it in smash ulimate tho
There should be Legos scattered all over the floor
You couldnโt offer me enough money for me to turn down going back there in my childhood.
โBut they didnโt have call of duty โ
I wish i had a childhood like that
Terrible controller to play street fighter. Ugh.
I’m not even from this era and I feel nostalgic… WTF is happening?
Every distinct object pictured here is branded, tied into a piece of major media. Largely with the same brands and media that dominate today.
You aren’t nostalgic for “simplicity”, you’re nostalgic for literally being a child. For not having to care about finances or politics or serious relationships of any type. For not being responsible for anyone, even yourself. For having the time and headspace to enjoy a thing, even a messy, branded thing, wholly and unironically.
Ah, good times. I miss those days…
I never had a multi color button SNES controller
Playing SF2 with a normal SNES controller fuggin sucks! But still not as bad as playing with a 3 button genesis controller
As someone who is growing up with the more โnewerโ consoles. I gotta say I genuinely wish I could experience what it was like
This must look like another timeline to zoomers.
โNo flatscreen smart TV and your controller has a basic layout with no analog stick or vibration function? What?!!!โ
โIs that an analog clock? No way!!!โ
It makes me nostalgic for less responsibility but that sure wasnโt my room. That room belongs to someone named Ian whoโs parents just bought him everything because thats how they parented.
Times were simpler because at that age you didnโt have bills or responsibilities. You got to be carefree in a lot of ways. Idyllic other than the fear of Satan and kidnappers. That white van from unsolved mysteries.
Speaking for myself you couldnโt give me enough money to go back to that time. I sure as hell wasnโt Ian growing up.
Nobody’s bedroom ever looked like this
Oh look a no-effort, seemingly AI generated picture to get me to feel nostalgic. And then the comments about how wealthy you’d need to be to have all this shit. I really, truly hate reddit sometimes.
I love seeing this picture of rich kidsโ bedrooms in 1992. Mine was not like this
Wow I can almost hear my parents fighting downstairs.
Jordan jersey, rotj poster, skateboard, super Mario 3, Ghostbusters car, robocop. Looks like Ben Reilly spidey too. Love it
The artist is[ Rachid Lotf](https://rachidlotf.artstation.com/). Rarely creates pieces in traditional desktop wallpaper sizes for some reason.
The fuck is up with that Back to the Future poster?
Old media good
New media bad
A tv in your room at that time woulda been crazy. Definitely divorced parents making it up to the kid.
This is the load screen on Arkos.
They only seemed like simpler times in this kid’s bedroom. Outside it their parents were worrying about paying bills and staying in employment and all the stuff you worry about now. This is the trick of nostalgia – it shows you the stuff you remember from being a child and being protected from the harshness of the world and tells you that wasn’t because your parents were protecting you, it was because it was ‘a simpler time’.
Take me back. This place sucks to many crazy people trying to tell us how to live
Why is everybory saying that OP’s parents “must have been rich” as if that’s a bad thing?
Some people grew up with wealthier parents than others, no reason why they shouldn’t be able to feel nostalgic or share their art about said feeling of nostalgia.
Especially when it’s good art like this
this….is so beautiful. thanks for the memories.
Always wanted a childhood like this.
I remember those day’s! Anxiety was almost nonexistent ๐ค๐
