This being widely available is great and ideal, however as someone from Portugal I can tell you that the fact this is readily available is a symptom of a drug epidemic that, in our case, was quelled only with a big investment in progressive drug policies (even if that goes against our values)

I work in a prison..literally..and it’s hanging on the wall with the AEDs in almost every office. People have saved lives with it there.
Put Fentanyl test kits next to the Narcan as well. Fucking Fentanyl is everywhere. Why is there Fentanyl in my shrooms, ecstasy?

I got Narcan for free. I walk/run outside a lot, and wear a hydration backpack (Camelbak) while doing so. Part of my gear is a first aid kit, and I carry two nasal sprays in there. I’ve seen someone ODing on opioids before and right as I was about to assess and help, paramedics arrived and revived them. Some people aren’t so lucky to have that happen, so I decided to carry Narcan with me just in case. I hope I never have to use it, but I’m glad I can have (some of) the tools to help someone in their darkest hour if need be.
While I don’t necessarily agree with Narcan being sold for profit, I do like the idea that it’s becoming more ubiquitous by the day. And, revenue from retail sales can (ideally) help to subsidize the free Narcan given out- so there’s that.
While it may seem “sad” to see narcan everywhere, it’d be a lot more sad when it’s needed and no one has it. I’m glad target has it now!
In Ontario, Canada, it’s mandated that pharmacies advertise that it is available for free. They even request you take a kit if you have a prescription for a narcotic.

I hope anyone who uses this is made aware that the effects of narcan wear off faster than the opiod it counteracted. So yeah it works great, but in 20-30 mins your gonna have the same problem again. Gonna need to go seek medical care before that window closes.

Every pharmacy in my area gives out Narcan for free. They have it at the register with a sign that says ” Free, Take One”
Everyone should carry this. Opioid overdoses are incredibly common, and no one ever thinks they would be in that situation, but you never know what could happen. You could save someone”s life with this.
They have a vending machine that only has free narcan in it in the main jail lobby in my city
I mean, where were you *expecting* them to sell it? Like, if they sold it at a flower shop, sure, that would be weird, but you are literally commenting on selling medication at a pharmacy.
