Even 32 minutes of having someone’s life in your hands must be exhausting.
It would have probably been easier if the stood up while operating. Just kidding. I can’t imagine the stress of that job.
This doesn’t check out.
OR floor is dirty, and there’s trash everywhere.
Nobody would lay down on an OR floor.
‘Surgeon’ is wearing open-toed slides.
I don’t understand why we worship cops, firemen, and nurses but when these men and women perform “miracles” we thank god.
It is absolutely amazing what the best surgeons in the world do. Also amazing that Ben Carson and Mehmet Oz were among these surgeons.
Heroes
Surgeons can be barefoot in the operatng room?
I wondr if they’re tired?
“thank God!” </ s>
Well, you want the whole set of tumors, otherwise they’re not worth as much
I’ve had that moment after working an 8 hour shift in a kitchen.
When I had to lift a 180lb keg onto the top of another keg by myself and hurt my back in hour 2.
See, this is why it’s unhealthy to wear a mask when you go shopping. /s
Note to self: don’t get a brain tumor.
Heroes 👍👊👊👊
Anyone who works like this to save lives deserves some recognition!
Among Fireman as the Top Heroes of the Nation.
Take the money we give cops to kill people they don’t like and Give it to Doctors, Fireman, EMT and Teachers.
Serious, what takes so long? I mean it’s only so much area in a skull and the human hand can only go so slow. I would really like to understand if anyone can explain.
Saved
Note to self:going with the flow of the other Note to self:
How long before this gets picked up by the American conservatives as evidence that prolonged mask wearing is detrimental to ones’ health?
Photo is from China, which is apparently a bit different than in the West, at least with regard to OR footwear.
“Doctors lying on the floor at Fujian Medical University Union Hospital, China.
One doctor is seen flashing a “victory” sign.
The 32-hour operation, which began , involved three surgeons, six anesthesiologists and eight nurses conducting six separate surgeries to remove a series of brain tumors from a single patient.
The operation now holds the record for the longest performed at the hospital.”
From a 2017 FB post.
Are they really operating 32 hours or do they switch? I mean isn’t it very dangerous for the patient when your doctors are tired?
The surgery gets longer every time this is posted.
Wouldnt at some point the exhaustion from the operators be an issue? Or do they rotate shifts mid surgery?
don’t they have shifts or something?
I’ve worked 30+ hour work days, reality becomes a dissociated blur after a certain point.
These guys are heroes, but do they not have a rotation for these situations? Not sure if I want somebody who’s been up for 32 hours using a scalpel near my brain…
They shouldn’t have been drinking. That was very irresponsible
Heroes
“they can heal you but it comes at a cost to them” every friendly alien movie ever made
Legends, hero and heroine!!!!
Brain surgery? That’s not exactly rocket science
Oh come on they are milking it, it’s not rocket science
Yay brain surgery but are the shoes normal for this kind or work? No covered toes? What if he got tired and dropped a scalpel on his foot? I’m worried for those toes.
Something I’m curious about.
I’m assuming surgeons are scheduled for on call/not on call shifts.
If a surgery takes 32 hours, are they still scheduled for their next shift? Or, like, does the rotation get messed with to accommodate?
I mean, I wouldn’t really want a surgeon, who just got done with at 32 hour surgery, to turn around and cut into another person just a few hours later……..
Flip flops?
Wait! You can wear flip-flops in surgery?
No way you’re allowed to perform surgery with open toe shoes, let alone flip flops and slides.
This is fake bc there’s no way in hell any surgical team member would be wearing slides with no socks. Forget about being anywhere near an OR with slides and no socks before, during or after any surgery.
