I detest games with autosave as the only option, especially when it comes to games like The Last of Us, where fucking up resource management can graft a lasting penalty.
Any game with resource management has no business making single file autosave the only method of saving. That’s just dumb.
Remember to save first 10 minutes of game and make 15 savefiles after every kill. Then forget and go full berserker mode, get rekt by miniboss halfway through the map and realize that your last save was half an hour ago not far from the spawn. Ragequit. Make promises to self. Repeat the next time exactly the same shit.
I only experienced this in the og SCP containment breach, that game litteraly threatens you with “corrupted save file” every time you feel too confident
Once or twice? I do it 10+ times before exiting then after exiting i turn it on again to make sure then save another 10+ times then have a panic attack wondering if my game saved and forget i saved a bunch then do it all over again multiple times before i pass out on my bed mid panic attack
I like to manually save before I get up for something (cook dinner, something for work, bathroom, etc.) and then religiously I save as soon as I sit back down. Doesn’t matter if I’ve been up for 5 minutes or 2 hours and I’m turning the system back on from sleep mode….I mean I KNOW that I just saved. Every time.
If you do this in Skyrim your first playthrough will be an additional 200+ hours than expected.
Yep, games like The Witcher and especially fallout & Skyrim
I always save 3 times just incase
And always close from the title screen!
Never trust the autosave as some games just do not have one…
Yes
Metro exodus’ autosave is quite generous
Bro, I swear! Fallout 4 autosave when exiting to main menu just doesn’t work lol
I got close to 100gb of save files once, on a game. There’s no such thing as playing too safe.

Accurate
Me: *saves game and tries to exit*
Game: Are you sure? Unsaved progress will be lost
Me: Better save again
I just started playing the Hitman Trilogy and this so true. The auto saves can be inconsistent at times
Walk around a corner. Save.
Kill and enemy. Save.
Another corner. Save.
Run into a friendly NPC. Save.
Murder NPC. Load.
I learnt the hard way to never do this in elder scrolls 4
In STALKER you gotta spam it especially when playing on the higher difficulties

My anxiety can relate

Gotta do a quick save *and* a manual save, if the options are separate.
Trusting the autosave is a fool’s gambit.
I manual save almost as often as this meme is reposted.
and use cloud storage with versioning.
When I see the autosave Icon I’ll save the game manually. I don’t trust these mfs
Autosaves get saved over.
Me who does it 15 times for a slight confirmation:
How about games that don’t have a manual save feature? How many times have I gone to “system” and looked for “save” and it’s not there?
I’m looking at you Far Cry 6

Found this one out the hard way in Divinity: Original Sin 2. The autosave is *awful*.
Always. Trusting the auto save… those of you who can, I applaud your courage.
Autosave is why I have trust issues, *probably*
