Bloody heck… the force focused in that pommel is a better way to pierce the enemies armour and to distribute it over the whole blade. Sorry to burst your bubble but those swords would do shit to that plate armour. I know you all like your fancy status symbols, but axes and hammers are better against armour.

If your opponent is armored and slower, you can attack faster but a swing with a sword might not do much unless you can hit the gaps but if you can’t, you will probably die. On the other hand if you land a pummel blow on their head, their helm won’t save the enemy from concussion.

If I recall correctly this usage of the sword is because his opponent has full armor, rendering the the sharpness of the sword practically pointless because it cannot slash through the armor, so you need to use blunt force to incapacitate the armored fighter. So you use the pommel as a mace
