This is my favorite music video and I have no idea why.
I love D’arcy in this video..real shame how she turned out.
Billy Corgan is both a musical genius and a nutty human being.
A lot of pumpkins albums are too darn long and filled with artsy fartsy fluff, but this one is solid and I can listen to it from front to back.
I like this song a lot. Also this was Corgan’s final most tolerable level of goth mime/human art installation personality… although I do appreciate his wrestling salesmanship skills.
He has huge hands
This song used all synth drums if I remember right because the drummer was kicked out for his drug use. That’s why it has a distinct sound compared to a lot of their other stuff.
The 90s was the best period for music. Fight me.
As good as their music was for a few albums they were just awful live. Mostly because Corgan can’t sing u less he’s in a studio.
[Homer Simpson, smiling politely.](https://youtu.be/jelyGb0luj8)
SP had so much potential, but Corgan’ s ego and self importance absolutely ruined this band. After Siamese Dream he made one bad decision after the next and drove this band into the ground.
Pavement is low-key the best band to come out of the 90s.
I miss music videos. They sort of faded out when MTV started to focus on their reality TV shows.
This video is an excellent piece of Gothic art. The whole this is incredible.
He’s intentionally trying to look and act like Nosferatu, right?
Uncle Fester’s little known glam-goth-synth-vampire origin story.
Looks like the song should be called Ava De Kedavra
I was just thinking “man I haven’t heard Billy Corgan’s whining quasi poetic sounding 90s complaint lyrics in forever.. “
The shows are really fun, hoping to see them this fall.
This video was all one shot. The camera was on a track and the film speed was adjust to make the unnatural movements, and the audio they were hearing changed speeds with the film so everything would sync up. I remember waiting hours to try and catch this video. It was before you could watch it on demand on YouTube
It’s a great video I always come back to watch, but that time just wasn’t the same without Jimmy.
I see a young fester in him.
I now understand why I wasn’t allowed to watch MTV as a child
This music video is actually incredible when it comes to its production. The fact that it IS one take, with the band ducking under the camera track. The fact that because it slows down and speeds up, they had to actually lip sync at different speeds to have it sync up. Say what you will about Billy, but damn did the group and team put so much work into this music video.
I can’t see this as anything but a video by a Voldemort-centered Harry Potter band.
Why?
They were so beautiful.
Middle school!
Not so good without Jimmy.
This season of what we do in the shadows is taking a darker turn than normal.
Why did this music video in particular get upvoted to the frontpage on this sub twice in the past month. Weird.
Am I on drugs… or doesn’t Billy Corgan look like Joel McHale in that video?
I remember this so vividly from high school in the 90s, this song was and still is a fuckin’ banger. And there’s absolutely no fucking way that Corgan’s jacket here didn’t inspired Neo’s…mind-fuckin-blown.
Back when music videos were both great and important.
I also really enjoyed this album and bought it (one of the few I ever bought).
This is my all time favorite song by Smashing Pumpkins. They are amazing.
Why is this suddenly coming up?
This is very Matrix-ey, particularly at 2:10 with the bullet dodge haha. But it was made a year before The Matrix, right?
Timelessly over the top. This song wakes up something in me and reminds me I need to listen to great music again instead of the cavity inducing watermelon sugar that gets force feed to me robotically
Friends of mine had this as their wedding song, they’re top tier
Did the Wachowskis direct this, or is it just very 90s?
What Billy does in the Shadows?
i remember liking this song (and album) but it was not well received at the time, so much so that they rushed back to the studio and recorded another album real quick which didn’t do well either.
The song that changed my mind on Smashing Pumpkins was [Bodies](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WldXS4hY8mM). Really great guitar tone and a pretty catchy hook.
Huh, I had never seen this video before. Neat
I was a huge Pumpkins fan when I was young and I distinctly remember hating this whole album at the time. Odd how I like it now after all this time.
This music video has influenced my clothing style for the past 2 decades, though no one can pull off the coat/cape like Billy can. Love the whole album, love SP… love Billy (even though he’s an egomaniac)
Voldemort
Great song, I’m old
Coool music video.
Love the pumpkins. Hate this song. Super hate the video. 🥵🥵🥵
Y’all, as an 80’s baby and 90’s music video junkie, for me this video was the death of an era. It was the perfect time for me to switch the channel to kids in the hall rerun. For one, swapping probably the most underrated drummers of the modern rock era (Jimmy) for robotic/chip tune/robot beat…. Then you have Billy…
Billy, Billy, Billy….
Max Schreck look is gross not sexy.
This is the period where Sir William of Chi-Town doubled down on the goth thing. Goth is sexy. This video ain’t. It’s not even a bad song. The hook is great but it needs some dirt. Some organically grown beats. Bottom line is James Chamberlain is every bit “the pumpkins” as sir William is. Best as a pair.
Now don’t get me started on the Dixie Chicks…
a ye the guy who sounds like he is trying to sound like marlin manson but can’t nail it
