I love community specific drama like this. Seriously, there’s no reason for me to care because I haven’t played the game but dammit I need to know the outcome of this!

how hard would this be to mod?

i know the video says it would be like impossible or so much work, but, well, if someone was dedicated enough, like 100 hours?

The fact that he comes in just simply asking about “the church” as though it isn’t obviously a secret area makes me suspect a troll. I haven’t played the game, but it looks pretty hidden.

I am not a hardcore gamer but what on earth is the walking/movement situation here? The character is constantly glitching out with every few steps?

The guy is posting like crazy right now. Just look at /u/sadfutago

The latest posts reference deep Nier lore and show off more and more impossible footage. It’s becoming extremely clear that this is not some clueless kid who happened to find something. I give it a 95% chance of being a viral marketing stunt for some new Nier-related product being released in the next couple of days.

And by the way, deep Nier lore is *deep*. The reference /u/sadfutago made was to lore revealed in the timeline of the official strategy guide and a *Japan and Taiwan only recital part of a NieR Automata concert*!

EDIT: And now there’s a link to a twitch stream in three hours (i.e. when this post is about four hours old)! Viral marketing certainty is now 99.9%

Here’s my theory that has literally 0 evidence for it other than “it’s a church,”: A developer or a friend of a developer’s SO was a huge fan of the game. In order to propose, they made a secret little area using official tools and burned a disk for their friend to use for their proposal. They chucked the disk into a normal case because why would they make a custom one, plus it goes under the radar. The person proposing mentions to their SO to check out the secret, and then proposes. Hopefully the latter part went well for them 😊

Then, years later they’re cleaning things out and the SO goes “huh, I don’t need this disk anymore,” and sells it, not really thinking/knowing that it’s one of a kind. Some random kid buys it, and finds the strange secret that makes literally no sense because it doesn’t really have a purpose to the average person.

Again, no evidence at all to support this, just thought it’d be interesting if this was the case.

Ah yes, conspiracy theories instead of logic! I remember when the safe in the floor was a marketing ploy. It’s pretty obviously just a child with a wacky copy of an old game. They probably patched it out a while ago but since he doesn’t have WiFi he never updated.

I don’t understand this at all. So there’s a room people didn’t know about? Whom fuckin cares? Easter eggs or unused areas are pretty common.

This reminds me of that game Tibia where there is a door that you can only go through once you reach level 999 (It took the #1 player 3 years to go from level 700 to level 999). And when he went through the door he never revealed what was on the other side. It took several years later before anyone else got that high of a level and went through it on a stream.

Having serious Banjo Kazooie PTSD watching this! Frozen keys and secret islands changed me from an average eight year old to a chaos theorist.

Interesting vid, but the the voice over can seriously use some work.

Just sounds way to force using the “I’m so smart and serious” tone. Honestly, made it quite hard to listen.

Legendary game from an absolute genius madman Yoko Taro

I’m one of those people nerding out about all of this
