Groovy baby
Always loved this. It’s like an Edward Gorey cartoon come to life.
Main dancer Suzanne Charney is fabulous and liquid.
Not a fan of movies like these, but Bob Fosse is a ultimate genius.
There’s nobody like him.
Well… maybe Baz Luhrmann.
Are people even capable of moving like this anymore?
Dam movies where so ahead of their time by that era wow
Vanessa was a fembot?
If Looney Tunes became real for a day.
Song is known as the Rich Man’s Frug, apparently Fosse styled it to imitate the way rich people walk. Also the inspiration for Beyoncé’s music video for Get Me Bodied!!! SO iconic, love this dance
That was insanely entertaining. Fantastic camera motion as well.
Soo ahead of time
Women remind me of Edie Sedgwick…. Ciao baby
I gotta watch this movie again!
Love Fosse
So mesmerizing
Pretty Groovy ✌️
Before they hired talented actors with plasticity, now they hire whoever is the baby of someone
Deleted scene from Austin Powers.
This has to be one of the best posts for the sub ever
Ngl this is one of the coolest things I’ve seen
I was in a production of Sweet Charity once, I remember during the rehearsals for this number the director and choreographer kept yelling at us to stop smiling (because generally, you’re supposed to smile while dancing) because the people we were portraying were supposed to be too cool to admit they were having a good time.
Sweet Charity is one of those show that’s sneakily influential; most people are at least passingly familiar with a couple of songs from it that they don’t even realize came from a Broadway musical (Big Spender and If My Friends Could See Me Now).
Or maybe not anymore? I remember when I was young everybody knew If My Friends Could See Me Now was used for various commericals in the 80s and everyone knew Big Spender because of that scene from National Lampoon’s European Vacation.
One of my favorite videos on YouTube, it’s another world! Still haven’t seen the movie yet.
Marvelous, simply marvelous!
