Sadly I wasn’t as hot on Decision to Leave as it seems most people are. I went in to the movie with no awareness, other than it was some sort of cop story, and it was by Park Chan-Wook. Unfortunately that really messed with my viewing experience.
It seems like the movie was meant to be a genuine romance where you’re maybe not rooting for the relationship, but are supposed to be invested in it. I guess I was expecting more of a Basic Instinct type set up where the criminal aspect is more the focus. By the final scene, I realized that it was meant to be a “star crossed lovers” type deal, and it was very much not how I was watching the movie.
