Something drastic must’ve happened at Nintendo because we’re getting remakes of some of the best Mario spin-off games in such a short period of time.

The Mario movie made a billion so they’re pushing out every Mario project that is quick.
Money
Prepping for switch 2
Easy to make games at the end of the switches life. Makes it easier to focus on switch 2 launch games.
I played the first paper mario and loved it. How does this one compare?
It just means no new major Nintendo games are coming out for the switch. They farmed out some remakes to third parties and they’re focusing on launch content for the switch 2.
I’m nearing completion of TTYD for the first time on my GameCube and I’m loving it. I’ll pick up the remaster for the collection, but I’m unsure if I’ll play it right away
Buying time while they work on new stuff for switch 2
The Mario movie sparked a new public interest in the franchise. The characters are more popular now than theyve ever been. It makes sense to want to capitalize on that
Good they can bring out remakes for old games. When Switch 2 gets announced and released people can stop asking for old content on newer consoles and get actual new games.
They saw the rom and iso download numbers.
I imagine a lot of remake projects are to teach newer employees. No worries on the plot, cutscene storyboarding, dialogue, combat, balancing, music, etc.; just redoing what’s already done in a new system and updating if needed. Which can then be applied to new titles. Like Crash Bandicoot 4 after remaking the Trilogy. Which means maybe Mario RPG games will be a thing again in the future.
People have only been asking for a remake of super Mario RPG for two decades.
Maybe someone finally locked Miyamoto in a closet.
thers a new mario rpg?!
noooo! i’ve done so well not buying a switch so far.
This does not make up for the fact that Hogwars Legacy has been delayed 18 months.
As othes have said, with the “Switch 2” coming out next year I’m guessing Nintendo are shifting their attention to making games for that. So in the meantime they want to put out games for this Christmas period that don’t require as much time or money to make.
Not that I’m complaining though. Mario RPG and Thousand Year Door are both classics.
Some companies are still recouping after covid, and devising strategies how to turn a burst of profit while giving themselves more time to float on how to best continue their IPs. Nintendo is no exception.
Still can’t believe that Super Mario RPG is gonna be 60 bucks, I loved the original but paying 60 for a remake is rough.
I just really want a new Mario Kart for switch. It’s been 9 years since the last one.
well, one of the best
End of life for the switch is probably a good guess. It could also be that Mario’s voice actor may have had his resignation planned for a while, and they still wanted to turn out Mario content while working out his replacement.
Nintendo had an epiphany. If you give fans what they want… youll make money.
I’m surprised they haven’t made a phone version of Mario vs donkey Kong. A phone seems perfect for the game
They will have realised that people are emulating them and want their money.
They are closing off the Switch with a bang.
They make money and they are cheaper to make since part of the development is already made
Its just the circle of life. When a consoles life is coming to an end theres no point developing new risky stuff, but people still want releases for the tail so its much safer to release remakes of games
when was MARIO VERSUS DONNKEEYY KONG was annouced?
How did I miss it.
They finally managed to lure Miyamoto into the back room, and wedged a chair against the door. Legends say he can still be heard screaming about Paper Mario’s battle system to this day.
the nintendo execs spent all there money on funko pops and need money to go to tahiti
source: im bowser
Their money printer is under maintenance so they had to improvise.
Getting Mario RPG day 1 mother fuckas!
I’m all for remastered games, as long as they’re not overpriced, makes it very accessible to new gamers
*we need moar money*
they finally realised how much money was on the table and what they have to do in return is very little effort compared to their grander projects.
**Because it was the Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary in 2021**
Initially, im sure a lot of these games were supposed to came out either in 2021 or 2022. But I think Nintendo had a hard time adjusting to the pandemic.
Super Mario Bros movie was supposed to initially come out in 2020 but was delayed part because of the pandemic and part because the Universal Mario Bros Theme Park was ALSO delayed from 2021 to 2023. The movie AND the Park where supposed to release FOR the Mario Bros Anniversary.
Im not saying they were all supposed to come out for the 35th anniversary or that it wasn’t because of the end of switch life, but I think a lot of people forget about the anniversary and just think that it’s easy money (which it is at the end of the line but still, I think Nintendo really like their anniversary party)
I just want a port of Mario Galaxy 2.
No way am I buying a second hand wii to play it.
I’m excited. Lost all my GameCube games some time ago, so haven’t bothered to play paper Mario in ages.
Cash grabs?
Personal guess: the next Mario is going too slow development and they decided to do spinoffs waiting for the release of next console.
Nintendo: “We should make some money”
Employee: “hold on to my beer”
Easy end of the console cycle remasters.
Promotion for that Mario theme park thing?
Has anyone seen Myamoto cycling to work recently?
I would almost say that they tied and gagged him and he’s in the basement.
The hype from the Mario movie died out since the spring and their trying to grab the attention of a new audience that may have never played the old Mario games. I think it all has to do with the movie release this year
Hoping we get remakes of the Zelda Oracle games
They probably decided they wanted another vault of money
