So the actual proof-of-concept for ‘Ballerina’ (the upcoming ‘John Wick’ spin-off, now being made with Ana de Armas) has been online for a few (five) years now (on the ‘Lucifer’ stunt choreographers’ YouTube channel).

stop trying to make Ana de Armas a thing, she’s not gonna be a thing
It’s amazing how quick this style of action started to get diminishing returns. The first few films were fun, and now it’s just boring to look at. The seams are apparent everywhere, and it sits in this weird middle ground where it’s not acrobatic or balletic enough to compare to wuxia or good kung-fu films, nor is it clumsy and hard hitting enough to look real. It’s just more for the sake of more.
For having a presumably small budget, this was really well made. Cinematography, choreography, etc… really well done.
That was less John Wick and more
Van Damme: not the good ones like Bloodsport but the straight to discount rack at the dollar store releases.
For a little short, this was decently choreographed even though it was about 50 movies mashed together.
I am just bored of this. Unless you’re the guys from the Raid, i’m just not interested.
So it’s going to be John Kicks
Awesome. But clearly
