Looks like [galena](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galena). If the sand is kinda heavy compared to normal sand, I’d try heating it up with a blowtorch and seeing if I get metallic lead. March 21, 2022 at 4:51 pm Reply

South Carolina has a fools gold sand lake. My in-laws go there often

We have black sand beaches in NZ too, see raglan..
