Wait I thought it was “transitory”…
What really gets me is that the boxes are the same size, so it’s easy to overlook when just doing your normal shopping.
Stop buying plastic bags already
Because 10 more bags destroys their profit margin. 😄
Why not get a sandwich box that you can wash and reuse? Unless you have a side hustle?
“Grip ‘n seal” is my stripper name.
And gotta love that scammy recycle logo.
What’s interesting to me is that I have a box of those that I know I moved to my current house with back in 2015….and it’s a 90ct.
Not only are the packages changing. But if you stop and pay attention to the prices of the items it is almost always more expensive to buy in bulk at my local store (Which is a Kroger brand)
E.g. They sell Cereal in “Giant” “Large” and I guess whats regular? The cost per/oz breakdown actually shows the Giant/Large are more expensive cost per/oz than just getting the regular small box.
Real question is when these type of single use plastic will be banned because the recycling system is a failure.
I buy my dog some treats and noticed yesterday they have like 30 less than before now. And cost 2 dollars more than they used to.
But the picture is bigger!
You simply can no longer afford to make a hundred sandwiches. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)
This is where the store brands get me. That 90 ct of sandwich bags is $11 at Wal Mart, here. Their Great Value 100ct of sandwich bags is… $2.24. They work just fine. If you buy the 300 pack ($5.72), you can get ~600 sandwich bags for the price of those 90. Crazy.
I’m glad someone reminds us every fucking day that this is happening.
Perhaps someone knowledgeable can explain this to me:
I would imagine 98% of the cost to SCJohnson to put that box on the shelf is r&d, running their production facility, salaries and that sweet sweet CEO pay, overhead, salesforce, marketing, and transportation to get those boxes to the supermarket. 2% or less for that extra 10 bags in the first box.
So why does it benefit SCJ to skimp on a tiny fraction of their total production cost when if even a few people notice this skimping and switch brands, negating any possible extra margin from not putting another one cent worth of bags in this box?
Shrinkflation is just another word for robbery.
Walmart? They sometimes have these smaller packages to beat out local grocery stores on “price”
take the time to complain every time you notice it, or they will just keep doing it
**WHERE ARE MY OTHER TEN SANDWICH, JOHNSON?!**
In photo 2, the New! arrow should point to 90.
It’s ongoing. I just checked the same brand box of sandwich bags in my pantry — I don’t use them often, so the box is at least 6 years old. It had 125 bags.
As a publicly traded company they have a commitment to their share holders to increase profits every year.
So once they’ve optimized their production facility to peak efficiency and captured a majority of the market, their only remaining ways to increase profits are through reducing quality, reducing quantity, or increasing price
So this is the final stage of all publicly traded companies.
Finding ways to get more money from the public, for less product, year over year.
Companies are finally starting to realize how much they can get away with and are having a blast with it.
At least they’re not smaller
Is that a 10% decrease?
These companies are fucking greedy but well bend over and take it. Because that is the way it is.
Corporate gouging not srinkflation.
Thanks for increasing the box to 90 bags.
This company had a revenue of 11 bill last year.
Good thing the logo got bigger.
Stolen elections have consequences.
It’s *Grab*flation, in that retailers are grabbing as much of our money as they can get away with.
just reuse them till they are broken or you suffer from syphilis.
Boss makes a dollar while I make a dime. And that’s why I shit on company time.
Welcome to capitalism where we pay how much someone wants to make off a product not how much its actually worth.
Why do you need 100 zip locks in three months? These things can be cleaned and reused.
