Serious question. Does anyone know why Shelly Duvall’s mental health tanked so poorly leaving her in the state she’s in?

To put this into context, this shot was taken during the week of the next to last episode of SNL’s second season , right around the time the show had started going “Super Nova” (in popularity).
And 45 years later, they’ve just completed the 47th season, with a total of 930 episodes (according to Wikipedia) or 932 episodes (according to IMDb) aired………and looking forward to hitting the 1,000th episode sometime just after their 50th (2024-2025) season on the air (which will probably end up occurring in the first half of the 2025-2026 season, if they continue with the usual 20-22 episodes per season for each of the next three years) !!
