Translation: We’re hooked on the ROI that GTA Online provides, so any money we spend on Red Dead Online would feel like a waste.

  • RaeBaeMycorrhizae

Ugh of course they are 🙄. Red Dead Online is fun & deserves sm more then what it’s getting. Such potential fr.

Red Dead Redemption is leagues ahead of ANY game in the GTA franchise. If absolutely nothing else, the incessant milking of the GTA V over the past decade has pushed me to hate the game.

The minute it starts hindering the growth of other titles is the minute I hate it even more. Fuck GTA, every last one of them.

  • Stemms123

    Yeah this sucks

I know GTA makes the big bucks for them. I am just surprised that it does since it’s kinda same shit for decades now.

  • Serious_Revolution77

I don’t want gta 6 anyway I’m not buying something from a company who can’t cooperate with fans

  • OTSly

Well all rockstar seem to focus on is more hype = more money and gta 6 is on another level of hype so therefore every other game is dead in the water to them.

If you can’t do things to a level of quality that the general consumer demands and expects then you should, in fact, not do those things. That’s at least an honest business strategy. If that means instead refocusing production and finances onto something that you have routinely demonstrated that you *can* do not only to the level expected but in fact well beyond expectations then that is a winning option. I don’t think those framing this as somehow bad, or worse, a punishment to gamers are seeing the larger picture.

Naw dog… I’m good on that.

I’m happily frolicking through the indie gaming renaissance that’s been going on while AAA companies were busy shiting the bed.

  • trinex83

I think this proves we likely won’t see any other titles from rockstar in the future other than GTA online, the suits there won’t allow it.

  • pm_your_masterpiece

GTA VI will be a Call of Duty style game with hardly any single player story and will require an internet connection to play – I guarantee it

  • PulledPorkPlease

Personally all I care about is GTA6 and the online component that comes with it.

    So I’m fine with this.

  • BrothermanBill_

    This is good and bad.

On one hand this is bad because wtf ? These games deserves remasters and RDO deserves better content.

On the other hand they’re calling all hands on deck for GTA 6 which makes me excited to see what they have planned. With the tech RDR2 had, this could be one of the best GTA titles to have ever come out since GTA IV, the level of freedom and shit you could do in RDR2 was staggering, can only imagine what they try next. (It’s also supposed to span multiple large islands, instead of just one, the map was leaked a while back).

  • flaagan

Well, already had uninstalled the game on PC cause they don’t GAF about all the cheaters / hackers present, guess it’s staying uninstalled. Guess this also means that 6 is going to likely be a largely online game without much to speak of for single-player.

  • SalisburySmith

Sad but for me I just never wanted to play any of these games online. I still only buy them for the single player campaign.

  • Lego_Lad2

This sucks, as someone who much prefers red dead over gta, I was really looking forward to the remaster of rdr and the updates on rdo, hopefully we get a new gen version of rdr2 though for ps5 and the new Xbox

  • Basic_Plantain_482

let’s be real, it’s good they didn’t continue with red dead online. imagine another decade from now they just keep releasing online shit for that game too and everyone is complaining about rdr online just like they complain about gta online. show some consistency people.

  • RustyWalrusKING

I liked RDO it could have been fun if they leaned in and made it an mmo-lite. But hey it wasn’t making billions so why bother.

  • Caffeinated_Cucumber

Wtf?! I was expecting the entire comments section to be a hypefest!

Hasn’t everyone been complaining about no GTA VI for years now?

  • PappaDukes

Thank fuck for halting shitty “remasters”. That shit is so played out. Give me sequels and/or original IPs!

  • Jaded-Effort-8968

Damn. I didn’t know there was going to be a GTA IV remaster. I loved gta 4 so I don’t know if canceling the gta 4 remaster was for better or for worse. On one side, it could be good but on the other side it could be bad and running gta 4 for me.

  • Kiflaam

I’d still be playing Monster Hunter 1 online if they didn’t shutdown the servers when 2 came out… which never got a USA release

  • ARandomGuyThe3

Why are y’all disappoint that they’re making a new game instead of remaking things you already have and then selling it to you again?

  • nubsauce87

Something tells me that RDR and GTA kinda have different audiences… At least in my demographic… Most gamers I know personally (including myself) really like RDR but don’t really care for GTA…

Like, I know that GTA is super popular, but why put all their eggs in just the one basket? This move would alienate a pretty large chunk of their fans…

  • Friendly_Can3378

This is a bummer. I play both GTAo and RDRo. My friends and I would agree to swap between both titles some evenings, to change things up. Do a Cayo Heist, play some Golf, then switch over to do a Bounty then go fishing before logging off.

    Fk man! ]:

  • ChrisZAUR

This makes me sad, RDR2 and RDRO were my favorite games and I am so sad that there is no more coming from it

  • Sweetwill62

Can’t say I’m surprised. Not sure why people still even play their games anymore. I wouldn’t play a game from a developer who actively lies to their fanbase for years.
