Well this just looks phenomenal.
I love that the first we fully see Dracula is after he’s invited in lol
In theaters April 14:
>In this modern monster tale of Dracula’s loyal servant, Nicholas Hoult stars as Renfield, the tortured aide to history’s most narcissistic boss, Dracula (Oscar winner Nicolas Cage). Renfield is forced to procure his master’s prey and do his every bidding, no matter how debased. But now, after centuries of servitude, Renfield is ready to see if there’s a life outside the shadow of The Prince of Darkness. If only he can figure out how to end his codependency.
Yes
#I’M A VAMPIRE!!! I’M A VAMPIRE!!!
Nic Cage as a vampire, as THE vampire? Yes.
Nic Hoult ✊ as a dashingly cute Renfield? Yes yes.
Renfield getting powers when he eats bugs? Fuck it; why not?
Tonally and aesthetically, this was not what I was expecting lol. Just from the trailer it feels like two different movies stapled together. Looks fun!
Hell yes. This looks like What We Do in the Shadows but with infinitely more Cage
Ahhhh, I’m a vampire, I’m a sexy vampire!
I’m very excited for this! Mostly because I absolutely adore Nicholas Hoult
Maybe I’m just in a certain headspace, maybe it’s the visual direction, maybe it was >!the viscerally exploding bishop and arms getting lopped off!<, but this looks like a potentially incredibly funny horror/comedy entry.
Getting some great Edgar Wright vibes from this.
When I saw the leaked pics of Nicolas Cage I realized that I have the same reaction to any pre production pics of him in movies.
“Wow, this is either going to be terrible or amazing.”
I know I’m late to the game but I just caught “Bullet Train” on Netflix and these types of movies are just FUN. I avoided Bullet Train cause of reviews and I wish I hadn’t.
I’m here for all of this goofiness.
dunno about this at all.
This looks like a lot of fun
I’m excited for this one! The director and writer, Chris McKay and Ryan Ridley, both seem great. And of course, NIC CAGE AS DRACULAAAAAA.
Nicholas Hoult looks adorable as the tortured servant; oddly, excited to see his chemistry with Awkwafina on here. It’ll be her first romantic lead role, I think.
By the looks of it, it’s gonna be gory, funny, and romantic. Can’t wait!
Given how this is also a comedy it sounds like Nicolas Cage is gonna have a lot of fun as Dracula.
Now that is some trailer (bit long, as most of them are) but it shows off the amazing potential of this movie. Hoult is giving me Warm Bodies vibes. CAGE ME IN!!!
“A, B, C, D, E, F, G……”
I am so NOT the audience for this, and I never watch trailers, but I figured I’d spare two minutes, and I have to admit that the joke of letting him into a room (which is a weakness of Dracula’s) was pretty funny.
This looks fun as hell.
Given the other popular vampires that have cameoed, I hope Hoult & Cage vampire cameo on What We Do in the Shadows after this haha
This isn’t at all what I was expecting from this movie, but I’m down for it.
The fuck…
Anyways, I’m sold.
So it’s an action comedy with some pretty sweet looking frights and Nicolas Hoult?
Like I was sold on premise before, but the trailer makes this look like an absolute blast. As long as the fights are well choreographed this is will a great movie
I thought it’d be another low budget hoot like Willys Wonderland but this looks great!
I’ll be disappointed if Nicolas Cage does not transform after he says “BAT!”
The first half of this trailer sold me. I was game for some *What We Do in The Shadows* with Nicholases Cage and Hoult, but the second half, with all the cliche, over the top action that reminded me of standard action BS you’d get from a *Van Helsing* or *Underworld*? Yeah, that managed to undo all the positive buzz I had from the first 30 seconds.
While this looks good, it seems like the What We Do In The Shadows television show has basically covered all this ground already? Nic Cage is a massive draw though
Well this thread is definitely astroturfed.
It doesn’t look **horrible**, maybe “ok” at best imo. But Jesus Christ a lot of these comments are from bland accounts with the most generic sounding praises.
What are some some sub alternatives? I think I’m finally done with R/movies. 😂
Edit: yeah just look at OPs history; it’s a studio account. mods should ban these advertisement accounts. (But I have a feeling this sub is bought and paid for)
Getting original Buffy the Vampire Slayer vibes
Didn’t expect Kingsman-style action lol.
Can’t wait for the Tom Cruise cameo that reignites the Dark Universe
Looks to be a fine addition to the Nicholas Hoult Eating Weird Foods Cinematic Universe
“are you here for the meeting come on in!”
kinda like how they’re using that part of the vampire mythos (they can’t enter unless you invite them inside) but I’ve always wondered how that works for public buildings, if it did at all.
either way, eternally grateful that the Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe died so they can just do fun things like this, instead.
Nicolas Cage just churns movies out.
I am so fucking on board for this omg
