What’s amazing is if a woman dressed up like this nowadays, she would be doing exactly that, *dressing up*. Your grandmother, while she didn’t dress this way day to day, owned such clothes for special occasions, like having a portrait photograph taken, or maybe she was attending a wedding or a dance where a smart photographer knew to be on hand.
