Never tried it. Debating it tho
AoM was a brilliant game. Between that and ceaser 3 I lost many hours!
One of my favourite games from my childhood!
Recently purchased the Extended Edition on Steam during a sale, no regrets!
Also obligatory-
Prostagma!
That game was awesome! Although I remember cheesing the ending – you had a timer that started after constructing a certain building (town center I think), at the end of which a massive army of baddies would show up. Another AI oddity is that enemies would not break through walls if there was a way around them. So I built the smaller resource gathering buildings, gathered up all the lumber I could, then built a serpentine path using walls edged by guard towers. When that was complete I finally built the town center. The enemy army didn’t even make it halfway to my base before being wiped out.
Hmm, looking at my savegame folder that happened around December 12, 2004. Time really does fly.
Aside from the gameplay, I really liked the extensive “mythopedia” providing background from the buildings to Gods.
the sounds the units make haunt me in my dreams… similar to warcraft or stronghold
This and the AoE games were always so fun to dick around in. I got AoE 2 on Steam to play the campaign recently, and I made the right choice to just dick around back then.
Prostagma?
Ensemble’s best game IMO. God powers were the shit
This game fucking slapped
Such a shame it never got any sequels 🙁
You just reminded me that I’ve got this on my laptop. I’m stuck in the car for a few hours, think I might have to revisit it.
Man I’ve played like 1000 hours or so of aoe2 since my childhood but I’ve never tried aom. Always wanted too, kind of hoping for a definitive edition like aoe2 got then I’ll do it.
The thrill of victory
Recently got the extended edition and only had one gripe. Couldnt change the pause button in the menus and it was set to pause/break button. Like bro, im not hovering my hand way tf up there for a whole game
Eventually found out how to change it in the config files
The amount of multiplayer custom games I ran in this when I was in elementary/middle school. Thank goodness there was no Steam back then to count my hours played.
Who’d you play as? I liked Thor and Ra from what I can recall
I do too buckaroo
I seriously hate how abandoned this game is, like, you just remastered age of empires 1, 2 and 3, where’s age of mythology? We want either a GOOD remaster or a sequel or at least a new dlc but NOOOOOOOO, I’m so sad this game barely get any recognition even after many of it’s gameplay mechanics got used for age of empires 4
One of my favorites of all time! such a great game!
Really hoping they hit it with a definitive edition upgrade like they did with the other titles.
Wuv woo
This is one my of my favorite games of all time
the GOAT
Fun AF game. My brothers and I used to make a tradition of playing it on new years
Masterwork
Perferred AoM to AoE3 honestly. Played a lot of it, and of course a ton of AoE2.
This is the best game ever
Some of my best childhood memories were of playing this game during vacations.
I read so much about Greek,Norse and Egyptian mythology cause of this game.
Such an amazing game!
Got over 300 hours on the Extended edition on Steam. Enjoyed the newest DLC, as well!
With the original version, I probably have over 1K hours in this game. I cannot get sick of replaying the campaign. I hardly played matches against bots. When I did, it was only to clear out entire maps of resources.
I would love to see a live-action trilogy covering the 3 main myths in this game. Or even a mini-series.
Prostagma?
O’ Canada
Why is there no definitive edition yet!
This game is top tier. I like it more than the modern one lol
Been addicted to this game last week from the steam sale.
One of my favorite games as a child. Though I don’t know if I’m the only one, since I hadn’t played in awhile, I’m quite sure I was a better player them rather than now.
I played so many hours of that game. I really loved the custom games that people would make.
I loved this game growing up.
You just hit that nostalgic button hard with this one.
I’ve spent a needless amount of hours in this game and loved every second of it 👍
Am i the only onw who thought they said “Tostitos” in the main menu song?
i didnt think people knew about this gem
I forgot all about this game. It was good.
I logged countless hours on this game, so much fun. I always loved the fact that the campaign had various themed sections – Greek, Egyptian, Norse.
And of course I will never forget enabling the endless God powers cheat… meteors for days!
I’ve played through the campaign 3 times one of my favorite games from my childhood
Damn straight in the feels, forgot all about it!
This was the best AOE I think. Perfectly balanced and each of the 3 factions were totally different – different units, buildings, and rules.
This game was excellent. God I played this even more than AO2
