This is Neeson’s 100th movie
Synopsis:
>MARLOWE, a gripping noir crime thriller set in late 1930’s Los Angeles, centers around a street-wise, down on his luck detective; Philip Marlowe, played by Liam Neeson, who is hired to find the ex-lover of a glamorous heiress (Diane Kruger), daughter of a well-known movie star (Jessica Lange). The disappearance unearths a web of lies, and soon Marlowe is involved in a dangerous, deadly investigation where everyone involved has something to hide.
I had no idea they made a new Philip Marlowe movie. I’ll def check it out.
And he’s doing Naked Gun too? I have to wonder how those two will compare.
My Prime Video suggestions have like six Liam Neeson movies from just the last three years. How the hell did he have time for this? 😆
Interesting
I’m intrigued.
They should have Liam walking around with pissed pants and no explanation for why
Marlowe possesses a certain set of skills …
Everyone looks older… Except Eddie Murphy
15 cut scenes for Marlowe to hop over a fence?
Damn do I miss Humphrey Bogart. I really hope Neesons Marlowe is as rough around the edges as Bogey.
A Noir Thriller? In 1930’s LA?!
I’m there opening night
Holy hell, that’s a lot of producers.
I wonder if those credits were sold to finance the film.
Is that Alan Cumming in the corner?
I don’t even need to see a trailer the poster tells me all I need to know about the film
Pretty sure I’ll love it
Poster throwing those L.A. Confidential vibes
is “Bruce Lee” (Mike Moh) gonna be in it 😉
(Fist of Fury aka Chinese Connection takes place in 1908 and yet the bad guys drives a 20s/30s car……im not even sure the T Ford had been invented in 1908 ?)
Liam Neeson finally doing a real movie again and not some action schlock?
I can’t be the only one to think he’s a little old to be playing Marlowe. Am I missing something?
I love the vintage look of this poster.
The Wire spinoff?
And here I’d thought Jessica Lange had retired!
Liam Neeson seems pretty old to be playing Marlowe. I mean, he’s 70. Maybe if it was 1958 and the film was ‘Playback’…It just doesn’t seem to leave much runway for a multi-film role. I know Marlowe’s age jumps around in the books, but Marlowe is anywhere from 33 to 42. I could see someone as old as 55 playing that role, but not 70.
I guess let’s see how it goes…
Nice, been a while since a good noir film has been around
Never played it but this poster has L.A. Noir vibes
Now where’s my Sam Spade and Johnny Dollar. I’ll take fucking Box 13 at this point.
Anybody read the book this is based on by John Banville? Kind of skeptical of any Marlowe stories not written by Chandler.
As always, I want more of this type of movie but besides the character, this story was not written by Chandler. I predict this losing money and us getting less of this type of thing. Check out HBO’s Perry Mason for your fix of Hardboiled dick
✖️ DOUBT
An R rated Marlowe directed by Neil Jordan with a great supporting cast – liking the sound of this
Lots of people in this thread seem to be unfamiliar with the detective and noir films of the 1930s and I highly recommend taking the time to check some of them out. My favorite is *The Thin Man* series which may seem a bit hokey at times but the sass of Myrna Loy was ahead of its time.
I’m looking forward to this!
Liam Neeson as Philip Marlowe is a weird casting choice. Watched the trailer and it’s hard not to hear his accent. Definitely curious about this one though! My favorite Marlowe will forever be Elliott Gould though.
Oooh I love a good Noir film!
I was let down by Nightmare Alley two years back. I thought with Guillermo Del Toro producing it was gonna be a supernatural thriller noir film, and I was sooo pumped for that. But it was just noir.
Directed by Neil Jordan. He was one of my favorite directors of the late 80s and early 90s. Mona Lisa, The Company of Wolves, Crying Game, even Interview with a Vampire. Hope this one is good.
