Sign height restrictions.
I bet it has a good personality though
Everyone says that 🙂
Hollywood has duped some people all the way to their grave if you think about it
It was in the pool!
It was in the pool
Went there last year, line too long for pictures, girls in “costumes” waiting to get tipped, Elvis impersonators singing and sitting around with a tip jar.
When we left the Elvis guy on the mic said he did that for a living…
Nothing in Vegas is as grand as it’s been advertised to be.
Wait til you see Plymouth Rock
Wait til you see the Mona Lisa
It’s how you use it!
This used to be a [dangerous place](https://youtu.be/kSefd6T3sKU) to try to take a picture with. You used to have to park at the side of the highway on the dirt, then dart across oncoming traffic to pose with it. It was renovated not too long ago so that people wouldn’t kill themselves to get to it. There’s also a sign on Boulder Highway if you want the thrill of the past of trying to photograph it.
Isn’t there a larger one farther out of town?
Holy shit I took the almost exact same photo today!
thats just cuz its at half mast. usually its raised but I guess some vegas celebrity has died.
Vegas is known for subtlety
I always thought that was the smaller alternative exit/entrance sign.
Fun fact- the designer never took a copyright on the sign so she was never able to collect despite how famous it became.
You should see the strip in Nashville. There’s so many epic pictures of it, I thought it was this huge expansive location.
It’s literally a block long and everything looks so tiny. It looked nothing like the pictures I had seen.
What is that? A Vegas sign for ants?
You know Vegas, classy and understated.
If that is disappointing, wait until you see Plymouth Rock.
Wait till you see the Mona Lisa
pfff Skegness has a better sign than that lol

That’s what she said.
Ahhh come on! It’s not that small. The picture was from a bad angle. It can be a lot bigger sometimes.
Nevada can get really chilly!
Clever Harley Davidson with the permanent photo bomb
It’s also not that fabulous.
It doesn’t help that it is surrounded by tons of development now. When most people think of the sign they think of more famous photographs of it from the 50’s/60’s when there was nothing around it, so it looked a lot more impressive. Even newer professional photos are taken at just the right angle that minimizes it’s surroundings.
I nearly missed it because I was looking higher & thinking it would larger. It is beneficial for pics though.
The thing that always stuck out to me about the Vegas sign was that it was a bit away from the strip. Smooshed between the airport and a golf station there is basically nothing around it. Seemed very out of place to me.
I didn’t either. Never been. Thank you for making me disappointed now before I ever visit, preventing me from even more disappointment than I feel now. Genuine thanks.
I think it probably had a different feeling before Las Vegas grew to what is now. When it was simpler, the sign probably felt bigger.
Wow, I thought it was at least on par with the Reno Arch in size! That’s honestly hilarious.
And there is always a line
Wait til you see the space needle in Seattle
Yeah. Not like the first time my wife and I went to Vegas and stayed at Treasure Island. We decided to take a walk on the Strip.
We both say, “Oh look! Let’s go visit that resort. Look at the sign. It’s right over there. We can walk it. Shouldn’t take too long…”
An hour later we’re huffing and puffing and hot and thirsty, “We’ll, it’s STILL over there. Looks like we got faked out by the sign. Huge but looks normal…TAXI!?”
Any larger and you wouldn’t be able to take a picture in front of it
The Blarney Stone is underwhelming too. It’s literally on the underside of the parapet so you have to stick your head through this hole at ground level to get to it. Plus I hear the locals pee on it so they can have a laugh when the tourists kiss it.
It’s not small, it’s shrinkage!
It seemed bigger in new vegas
I think it’s also 8 miles inside the city limits, no longer that long empty stretch up to the sign just in the middle of industry
Yea when you actually stand next to it it’s only waist high
Prolly because movies have warped our minds
The sign can’t even say “it was cold outside” as an excuse.
Man just pull over and walk up to it as close as you can and it will appear larger.
Wait til you see mt Rushmore. More like hill Rushmore.
I remember when I was a kid seeing the sign and it was out at the outskirts of the city, and the next time I saw it it was like downtown. The sign didn’t move at all
Where’s the banana?
People also get surprised when they visit the Alamo and are expecting it to be sitting out on a dusty plain, only to find out it’s surrounded by hotels and right above the River Walk.
