This was one of my favorite DS9 moments. I didn’t love the series the way some on this sub seem to, but I appreciated the character development for Nog. Watching him transform from an immature delinquent into a diligent, competent officer in Star Fleet (the first Ferengi there, no less) was awesome. The character had a sharp mind, knew he wouldn’t make it in Ferengi culture the way he could with Star Fleet, and changed a lot of people’s minds about the capabilities of his species in his time with them. He really shined during the war with The Dominion too. Glad he got a ship named for him.
His arc had real highs and lows, especially with his PTSD after he lost his leg in the dominion war. I didn’t like his character initially with the teenage banter with Jake, but his character development was great and I really credit Aron Eisenberg with giving such a genuine performance.
DS9 is not my favorite Trek series, but it is certainly the most unique in its format and the issues it tackled.
My favorite Trek captain and series for that matter.
Gone was the villain of the week attitude of the original formatted shows, hello actual character and long term plot development. And Sisko to me is the most humanized captain- all of his flaws and biases laid bare for all of us to empathize with.
I loved seeing Nog as a captain in Star Trek Online missions (voiced by Aron Eisenberg too) it gives you that end game result of all his hard work and what he did with it as an adult. It’s some proper closure to this character.
I always did respect the way STO brought in real voice actors from all the shows and tried to stick with the storylines as true as possible (even when they get crazy disjointed with the modern shows that they added into the game for later seasons) they make it all work though.
Shame ~~Eric~~ Aron Eisenberg passed away.
RIP Aron Eisenberg.
Best character in DS9, besides Vic Fontaine.

Probably the second best episode featuring Nog. Best one was when he came back without a leg.
In my top 10 scenes in DS9

I have never seen this. Wow that was moving.
and thus the first starfleet MLM scheme was formed
God is all of star trek this overacted?

I don’t get why people think Sisko was a good captain (or actor). He was kind of a dick to Nog here, and pretty racist.
Nog is a much better actor.
