I’d argue that even their games aren’t really that great, but the masses still buy them, so I can’t really blame them.

The Switch STILL only has two themes from launch: Black & White. There aren’t more to download.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate still has it’s entire roster of 70 characters, and 100 stages, are both sorted by the date that content joined the Smash series. There is no other way of sorting them. Seems silly for such an icon of a game to not care about its players.

Sometimes I feel like they made a deal with an eldritch being that only lets them make quality games at the cost of never compromising their game prices.

games absolutely, in a world where everyone wants to monetize literally everything

but consoles and online functions, just stop

I’ll admit that I’m a Nintendo fan, but xbox or Playstation wouldn’t last if they treated their fans the same way. It’s a love and hate relationship for sure. I’m afraid of what a new Nintendo console means for us. They seem to always cut off access to great titles just to sell them again.

I don’t understand why their entire online presence on their hardware is so painful to use. Of all the games in the world that are always online why are community centric games like Pokemon or Animal Crossing not? The whole concept of having to connect every time you want to make an Internet based interaction is so archaic.

    Making a good console. Yes.

Expanding onto new consoles with obvious areas of improvement within their gigantic means of capability. No.

It took 5 years to get folders on Switch, and there’s really not much customization beyond light or dark mode. I figured we’ll get themes right before the Switch 2 comes out.

Im gona get a bunch of hate for saying this but nintendo sucks and they don’t make great games they just make the same games every time whit diferente colors.

This company has, by a huge margin, the best library of first-party titles. Thirty-five plus years of amazing games, and yet, the only way we have to play the majority of them is either prohibitively expensive or basically illegal. They could print money if they had a decent team working on, say, a GameCube emulator and optimizing old games for it.

But they’re doing the absolute bare minimum. GameCube, I can understand; some of those games are hard to emulate. But for the other systems on Switch Online? They’re drip-feeding us games. I see no reason why they can’t already have most of their Game Boy/GBA and N64 libraries available.

I had a NES and SNES and that was it. That’s where I got off the nintendo train. They still milking that mario stuff eh.

  • Surfing_Ninjas

It’s really sad that they hate the idea of anyone taking their games seriously, the competitive scene would be absolutely incredible if Nintendo have even the slightest support for stuff like major Smash Bros and Mario Kart but instead they’d be much happier if nobody ever considered doing anything related to tournament play. Nintendo execs are so out of touch it pathetic.

They made some great games decades ago and just release them again every few years or so, the wii was the last console actually half way worth getting.

Opinion: if the bad part is just being shitty to fans instead of putting gambling on their games and scandals of sexual assault on employees, it’s not that big of a deal. I know some fans spend hours and hours onto something they love, only to be recieved with their things being cancelled, but at the end of the day, it’s just a “Oh no…..anyway” moment.

They’re good at making games, and they had some seriously great gadgets too. Ok on the latest consoles, that’s arguable, but just looking back at just the WII, I can name three excellent things they had:

The WII-mote which was damn good, a simple stick with buttons and no cable,
The Guitar Hero Guitar, you can’t say it wasn’t an excellent thing,
The Ghost Squad gun, which was just as good as the guitar.

  • adeadfreelancer

…are they good at making games though? Or were they the only ones filling a couple niches in the industry until the past few years, so you had no choice but to play their games if you liked those particular niches?

  • PantsOnHead88

Their controllers and their systems have innovated through the years as well. N64 graphics, GCN controllers, Wiimotes, DS handheld, accelerometers, gyro, switchable handheld and console modes, etc.

  • Gamerilla

So true. I heard Nintendo try to play the saxophone once. Couldn’t even keep it in tune. They should just stick to making video games.

  • Newtype_Matt

Do people just hate Nintendo because they want to protect their IP’s? Nintendo literally owns the most iconic fictional characters in history (Pikachu, Mario, Link, etc..) so it makes sense that they’re protective.
