Rindt was a phenomenal driver, the cars were like sitting on tnt unfortunately
Great photo, and RIP Jochen.
He died in a crash during a practice session for the 1970 Italian Grand Prix. He was already leading the championship and in the remaining three races the runner-up Jacky Ickx could not overtake Rindt’s points total, and so Rindt was declared the champion.
Jochen Rindt remains Formula 1’s only posthumous champion. Nina Rindt, who later remarried, is still with us at age 79.
This looks like she should be a character in a Bond movie.
