NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will sign a multiyear extension next week, per [Adam Schefter]. A 2020 NY Times report revealed Goodell was making $63.9 million per year & he has reportedly made ~$500M since becoming commissioner in ’06. That’s more than any NFL player in history.

How can anyone possibly justify that salary? That’s about $30,000 per hour.
On a related note, the tax rate for wealthy people has been steadily going ***down*** since the 50s. It is way past time to do something about that.

Was starting to forget why we were booing him
I remember when the lightbulb went off in my head that, the more shit Goodell eats publicly, the better job he is doing for the owners. He’ll be making over $100m a year before he hangs it up.
I’d do it for half that!
They got their guy
How does one even become the commissioner of the NFL? Do the owners of each team have to sign off on it? Like what’s the protocol?
Fuck Goodell.
fucking ridiculus.
He’s about $65 million a year overpaid.
This is an honest question.. what does he even do?… what does the NFL Commissioner do? I know he tales the heat for the owners and the rule changes, but what does he do on a day to day basis? I feel like his whole job would take 10 hours a week if that.
He’s obviously brought more than 500 million dollars to the NFL in value, hence the paychecks.
Said this before, I’ll say it again whenever we complain about Roger Goodell just remember he is doing the job ALL 32 owners paid him to do.
He is a reflection of his bosses wishes.
Well he does run a business instead of playing a game
More like BADell.
He sucks is what I’m saying.
Tbh I’ve never understood why people hate on how much he makes vs. the best players also making tens of millions a year if not more. Sure, there isn’t a player that makes as much as him per year (excluding sponsorships, etc.), but they all make ludicrous amounts of money

As a Patriots fan, I love seeing everyone else hate Goodell too.
Maybe give him the franchise tag ?
F Him
How about Donating half to injured players with less than 3 years who’s backs you are riding on
Pete roselle rolling in grave.
Once compensation goes over a certain amount it just sort of ceases to have any meaning to me. The closest reference I have to commissioner in the non-sports world would be CEO. If he were classified as such, he would be 19th on this [2022 list of highest compensations for CEO](https://www.equilar.com/reports/95-table-equilar-new-york-times-top-200-highest-paid-ceos-2022).
I looked it up thinking that a guy like that has to have some sort of Master’s degree or something. But nope just a plain ole Bachelor’s degree in economics. Honestly insane.
I’m so tired of hearing about these mega rich people and not being able to do a thing about it because this country is so corrupt
Sounds kind of reasonable for the guy running the whole show to make as much as the highest paid players.
It’s good to be the king I guess.
I mean, I think he does a good job.
The NFL is probably one of the best corporations in America on many fronts.
The golden rule. This that have the gold make the rules.
Lol at thinking the pawns should make more
The guy is a magician. The owners can fuck around all they want, and everyone blames Goodell.
Yet taxpayers are burdened with new stadium costs. I know it brings money in, but these salaries are outrageous
This is why the NFL is a nonprofit organization.
He makes this much money bc he has earned his bosses (nfl owners) much more money than Goodell will every make.
I mean I get it but the head of any large company makes more than any of its employees in history too.
To be fair the NFL players have seen their salaries raise in the 50-75% range since he’s been running things. He seems to be doing a pretty good job for everyone.
Given the value of the NFL, it sounds like he’s underpaid. He’s the CEO of a bunch of billionaire owners and millionaire players; managing that sounds like a nearly impossible task, but he’s done it for the past 17 years.
Imagine running a business with 32 factories where the plant managers (owners) and union labor (players) all have fuck you money, and in some cases more money than god(s).
Everyone at Apple has to do what Tim Cook says, but everyone in the NFL has the resources to do what they want when they want without repercussions (concussions are a different matter).
The man has to be some kind of management genius.
Crazy the NFL was a 501c organization until 2015 also.
No different than any other CEO at billion dollar companies.
The Cincinnati Bengals and Detroit Lions are currently the lowest valued NFL franchise at around $3B each.
In 2004, just before Goodell took over, the average team value across the entire NFL was estimated at $733M.
Think about it, during Goodell’s tenure, the lowest valued teams have gained $2.5B in valuation, with the higher end ones having gained over $4B.
If you’re the CEO of any company with that kind of growth, you’re going to making fucking bank.
