Unless you’re from the Midwest, you can’t believe how popular Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge was for weddings, honeymoons, vacations, etc. It didn’t start to get super trashy until the mid 90s. Gatlinburg itself then still had quaint shops and some of the original spirit.
I have the same picture of my grandparents on this ski lift! Their picture is June 9th 1979.
