Juliane Koepcke, age 17, was sucked out of an airplane in 1971 after it was struck by a bolt of lightning. She fell 2 miles to the ground strapped to her seat and survived-she had to endure a 10-day walk through the Amazon Jungle before being rescued by a logging team.

Have there been any movies about her?
She looks awfully clean.
Are you shitting me Clark?!?! Come on now guy…
Just looked it up…good God that girl was tough, and lucky too..I couldn’t imagine something like that.
Super hero or super villain backstory.
Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t she break her arm in the fall?
That’s amazing
That’s amazing
How could one survive a 2 mile fall? What would have to go right to make It so you don’t break every bone in your body? Falling in to water?
How I’ve never come across this story is beyond me. Insane!!!
She jumped out of her chair right before it hit the ground
Pretty sure she found her dead mother as well
Its absolutely true. A complete miracle she survived the fall and 10 days in the jungle. Although, her parents being biologists or some kind of science-y folk would have helped with the latter.
My favourite murder have an episode on her. She’s a cool woman
This looks like the end of Salt
And you think you’ve had a crappy day.
Just imagine all the guys that have tried to pull a flex in front of her not realizing she’s got them out flexed by several orders of magnitude.
That’s why you put on your seatbelts folks
“But airplanes are designed to be struck by lightning”….maybe after this?
Wear your seatbelts folks
The real Wonder Woman
And the lesson here– ALWAYS CHECK THOSE BOLTS ON THOSE SEATS. If people look at you weird just tell them… Im just checking my seats to be sure.
Is it just me or does she look a bit like Billie Eilish
Was she asked to recreate her experience in this image or is this an actual shot from when she was rescued?
SALUTE to her for having her survival instincts kick in after being sucked out of the ✈️! She’s both smart and tough!! She has more 🏀 s than some of these young thug’s in these streets when it comes to being in survival mode!
“When Koepcke was 14, her parents left Lima to establish Panguana, a research station in the Amazon rainforest. She became a “jungle child” and learned survival techniques.”
Seems like her upbringing prepared her well!
She and her dress look remarkably clean after walking through the jungle for 10 days…
Only to be forced back in the water for this photo-op
My Favorite Murder did a podcast on this story. So incredible! Also an awesome podcast if you haven’t started it!!
