if I were rich I would buy sealed copies of games to open and play with.

That’s how you go from being rich to being poor, and not having assets to recover with… But good luck.
Cheaper ways to play it if that’s all you want
Why buy the actual game when you can quite literally get a repro that looks & acts exactly the same lol
In this economy, 1k won’t even last you a week, not where I’m from in the states. So, best to just stock up on repros and find pawn shops cuz they’ll usually have cheaper retro stuff
*downloads rom*
I just downloaded the rom lmaoo
Maybe I’m the weird one but I’ve never seen the appeal of paying through the nose for something old in it’s original packaging. The value of the game is being able to play it, surely? It’s like buying a book with all the pages glued together.
A games a game the people who sell games like this for a stupid amount of money are not collectors their investing because they know people will pay out the ass for it, i understand opening an “old game” for the feeling and being the first to touch it, however no way in hell will i pay 1k for that feeling, when the nostalgia of playing old school pokemon would be of more value
I’d do the same if I could afford it lol
If I was rich I’d just emulate and buy hookers.
Gaming set up is still in my bucketlist sadly
i literally still have a playable copy of that exact game, no box, the sticker is a little bit torn but i enjoy coming back to it every once in a while
This game isn’t even sealed.
Edit: As in brand new, sealed. It’s CIB.
Jokes on you, I bought this brand new when it came out for like $30. It was so new I could only get it in japanese
All of my games are factory sealed
You give a way the same energy as the Joker burning money.
Yet the rom is online for free
I would bet even though that copy is sealed the battery in the cartridge is still dead and you wouldn’t be able to save your file.
you can buy mint games and still play them. Its called going to the shop and buying a new game. i did it with this very version 20 years ago
I had gold and silver. Until my friend Luis borrowed my Gameboy and silver and then moved.
Silver was better than gold, dammit.
Who tf is gonna but Gold anyway? Everyone knows Pokemon Silver is better
You probably couldn’t play through this today though. Battery in the cartridge is gotta be dead by now
It’s like buying a book with all the pages glued together.
It irritates me so much that my hobby has turned into a investment venture.
Collecting was a lot more fun when people were just collecting for the sake of collecting. Now everything is insanely inflated because people think if they buy a sealed copy of whatever game now, get it rated by a company – and then somehow get a massive return on investment 10 years from now.
I honestly hope that market collapses massively, so all the greedy pr*cks just f off.
It’s really easy to get an emulator to play these games though.
This thing smells of terrible wata levels of ripping people off
Sounds like a waste of money.
If you were smart and rich, you’d make a click bait YouTube video about it, do a let’s play on those games, then use the revenue to fund yet more sealed game buys
The battery inside it is probably dead too
Why emulators exist, get it free instead paying insane prices
Damn dude, your cart is spilling over with goodies lol
This is why I love Ashens, whenever he did video game collectibles or collectibles in general. He’d always make a remark about snobby collectors and how breaking the seal would make them cry.
Emulate dat hoe and call it a day. Games that old are mostly emulated perfectly.
Game Boy games are at the age where the internal batteries are dying so you likely wouldn’t be able to save.
You would be exacted by the fans
Fuck these people. They treat games like investments.
So to cash in all I had to do is not open it for 20 years? Nah. I’d rather play it back then. No regrets.
We all know the battery is dead in that thing
the battery of that….must be quite degraded by now XD
That’s not crazy, that’s just like being cavalier with your finances
It would be so easy for nintendo to add free emulators to the switch andet people purchase all their old back catalogue. But, of course, that would make too much sense. Even though they’d gain huge profits. Imagine if they released development software that let people make games for their old consoles through the switch.
They could get some great developers and programmers and designers to work for them through that method. Maybe one day.
They like to shut down projects by the people they should be hiring.
My mom and dad both bought me the silver and gold Gameboy with Pikachu on it and this game, they were going to take one back then my dad said “hey this might be worth something some day” so we never opened the other set, and now I just thought about it and I’ve to go figure out where that thing is!
A lot of people are talking about how you can just emulate, which is true. But for me nothing beats playing games like gold and silver on original hardware, it just feels different compared to using a mouse and keyboard bc that was the way it was originally designed to be played and for me that’s a superior experience
I would start a Patreon and when a certain threshold is met I would unbox the game on a youtube video or something. I get the game and the money.
Wata grading is such a meme I hate it
