I thought the same today about World of warcraft back in 2005 – 2007… Made me even shed a tear
I nearly play this game once a year – It never fails to impress with it’s atmosphere!
When I played this I was homeless and sleeping on the floor of a friend’s house. It was my way of escaping. Very hard life then, but excellent game to escape to.
I didn’t know that it was something that I shared with others, that feeling of the first time I started the opening of FFX, its atmosphere, its characters, its history will be something that I can never feel again until I play Elden Ring.
In all sincerity FFX is an RPG gem.
This probably had the most developed world of any Final Fantasy game, even to this day.
I spent over 600 hours on that game.
I’m really lokoing forward to the HD remake
Just think, the space between games like quake and myst and descent, to ffx, is 6 years.
6
Remember when squaresoft used to try to push graphics and innovation just to be the best, and did it Every. Single. Year? The 90s really were the golden age of gaming, not because of how great they all hold up, but how much innovation happened in such a short time.
I’d love to see them go back to ffx cameras on rails to see how far they could push prerenders and baked in environments these days, could probably be near photorealism if they tried.
HA HA HA HA HA HA!
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but as a 33 year old gamer with a 10 month old baby and a mountain of responsibilities that will only get bigger and not shorter, you will never ever recapture that magic again. Part of that greatness was playing your favorite game all weekend with no other responsibilities then getting to school with your friends and talking about it and then rushing home to play with them all night. Even if you plan a gaming weekend with all your old friends, it will never be the same. All those old responsibilities will still be in the back of your mind and it is unfortunate. I still enjoy gaming but I enjoy my family now too. Im glad I had my zero responsibility gaming days but I wouldn’t trade these days for anything.
“Stay away from the summoner”
Rides ze shoopuf??
My problem with this game is that some of the random battles white on the way to a mission stop, just became incredibly repetitive.
Imagine how I felt playing through this on PS2 first time. The music and atmosphere are beautiful, the graphics are mind blowing back then but to seal the deal:
The Moment you hear the Besaid theme first time, you just know you’ll have an amazing gaming experience from start to finish.
You mean angry because I sucked at blitz ball? Great game other wise for me. Loved summoning that one bad ass guy with the chains.
Literally had this exact thought this morning. The feels.
I think I’m just reminiscing about a time when I didn’t have so much to care about.
**DON’T. YOU. GIVE UP ON IT.**
…at least that’s what I always thought that song was saying
This was one of the first games to truly “wow” me as a kid, before then I was so used to the blocky looking graphics on the ps1. I remember renting this game from blockbuster and playing it all night.
Fuck the haters, FFX was great
Good luck my dude. Been chasing the high from that and FFIX ever since. If anyone has any game recs that come close let me know.
When I first played blitzball, I suuuucked. Then every other playthrough, my team KILLS lol.
Annoyed at Blitzball?
Great game, hated Blitzball. lol
That’s how I felt about ff8
But…..”kweh” and *lightning crashes 200 times*
For me it was FF7. I have put countless hours trying to master all the materias, breeding Golden chocobo, and defeating Ruby & Emerald. Good times 👍
Shadow Hearts 2, Lost Odyssey, and Xenoblade Chronicles picked up the JRPG slack for me.
Death stranding did the thing for me, felt like a kid again.
blitz ball is totally an underrated game mode.
Thank you OP. I loved this game so much and it really did seem like all of my problem vanished when I was cheerfully walking through this world. The art, the buildings, the music, the landscapes, the NPCs and their banter. I miss this game and FF12 so much and how they made me feel. This made me cry – a good cry though. Thanks again
“The way I felt playing final fantasy 10 as a kid”
TFW you realize you were a few years out of college when FF10 came out.
But I get wanting that feeling about FF3!
I miss that old school turn base systems
Agreed, I’ve never related more to a post ever in my life
Duuuuuuuude totally. Best FF to date. Come at me 7ers!
When I was a kid games didn’t release every month and I only had one to thee games per year to play and I played them to death. I took my sweet time. Replayed. I didn’t know the stress of 3 new games coming out every other month, having a massive game backlog and a fear of waisting precious time on which game to play, which to just try and which one to compete. The enjoyment, wonder and happiness hit different that time.
FFX is the best FF Game ever made.
Fight me.
7, as a teen…..fuck
the graphics blew my mind
Same but ff7 and 8
FF9, FF10, and Diablo 2… chasing that fix every since
This is still my favorite Final Fantasy to date. The story’s so good.
Going to Zanarkand
Blitz ball!!
The cut scenes was so far ahead of its time ive went though this game so many times still in love with it. Would love them to remake this and re visit this universe. I miss the turn based style as well.
I saw an old man wearing a PlayStation Shirt. Can’t be Too Old to love PlayStation.
Still my most favourite game of all time. Apart from that Chocobo race and the lightning dodge, those challenges can choke on a big bag of dicks.
