I’ve never been a weed person. The smell has always made me nauseous. But why even put this sign up? At the very least, just say “No overpowering scents, please.”

Around here, nobody really REEKS of cigarettes anymore. Very few people REEK of MJ, but it’s a significantly larger amount.

I would guess it’s common enough for people stanking to come in, and someone got tired of having to say it over and over.

Or just random christian weed-hater owners. The former is far more likely though.

Just don’t be gross in public places. It’s that easy.

I’m a heavy smoker but it’s like my biggest fear to ever smell like it. I’m so worried about it I only have two outfits I smoke in(or naked)and they are washed separately from all other clothes. I don’t know why, if anyone asks I’m super open about it…..I just don’t wanna be thought of as only a stoner I guess.

Good. I like weed. It’s great for winding down, numbing pain and thinking outside the box. However, the same as someone who hasn’t showered, or put on WAY too much cologne, nobody else wants to have the olfactory senses assaulted.

If weed smelled like flowers we wouldn’t be having this conversation. You think it doesn’t stink, but it does. Weed stinks a lot. I lived in an apartment complex where weed smokers moved in and half the hallway always smelled.

Man, the stoners ITT are acting like this is a travesty. Is it really too much to ask that you don’t smell like skunk anus? I suppose it’s too much to ask convention goers to bathe before attending?

I’m all for legalizing/decriminalizing marijuana, but I don’t think this is unreasonable. The smell is pretty disruptive, especially if you don’t smoke and are trying to eat or just not be overwhelmed by the smell.

They should say the same for tobacco smoke, although that usually isn’t as powerful as marijuana.

To all the weed smokers who think there is no smell, its because you are smoking it and are desensitised to the smell.

Someone who has smoked weed in a car, inside, or is careless with where they blow the smoke, it absolutely saturates your clothes hair and skin.

It is one of the strongest smells, and can be smelt half way across a supermarket.

If you don’t want to smell, smoke outside, blow your smoke upwards into the wind and use a pipe. Joints and blunts make your hands smell.

Also, the smell is akin to someone who hasn’t washed in about a week, and has wallowed in their sweat and detritus.

Fresh smoke can be quite sweet, so that smell you get as you pass someone smoking weed… You dont smell like that. You smell like stale sweat

Honestly, I’m all for legalized weed, but I don’t want to sit next to anybody who stinks, regardless of what their stink is.

I think there should be a few more. (Alcohol, cigarettes, overly strong perfume/cologne.) If it’s a restaurant, then bad strong smells ruin food for everyone.

  • RunsWithPremise

I don’t have a problem with people who smoke marijuana, but I really, really hate the smell of it. I also hate the smell of cigarettes, but maybe weed is a bigger issue where this restaurant is located.

In short, smoke whatever the fuck you want, but please don’t subject me to smelling it.

As someone who smokes weed quite frequently… i hate when im out somewhere nice and theres someone that smells like they just clam baked 3 joints in their car before walking in. How the fuck do you even reach that level of stank

  • Temportat

I feel like I’m having a stroke here, can someone please explain what the post title is supposed to mean and has to do with the pic?

  • RuinLoes

    Thats… entirely reasonable.

Its a pretty unpleasant smell and shop woners are well wothin their rights to bar people who reek…..

I don’t even smoke weed but on my birthday one year I walked into a restaurant after a couple who I had seen hotbox a huge blunt in the parking lot. The server accused me of smoking and asked me not to come in like that. I didn’t rat them out, but at least figure out who it is before you go pointing fingers!

  • PapaMagoo

I work in a restaurant. No one here has anything against marijuana. But bro, please air out before you come in. There’s kids in here! Some times people come in right after they take a puff! Wait 5 mins!

When I was in my teens in the late 80s, and then early 20s in the beginning of the 90s, I used to get super paranoid if I went somewhere like the grocery store, while high.

I was convinced that people were all staring at me… that they knew I was high.

Well, I understand now that it wasn’t paranoia. They *did* know, because I reeked of it!

I also smoked cigarettes at the time, and my sense of smell was not great. I could never smell it on myself or my friends.

  • Erthwerm

There are a few places here in Portland that should hang up that sign. So many people stink of marijuana. And I’ve smoked a joint here and there, but it’s just so awful to go to a place and somebody walks in smelling like they’ve bathed in hash oil.

  • BluRayVen

10000% agree. I am for legalization, but I am also sick to death of smelling that skunks ass wafting off people just about everywhere I go. Far to many pot smokers have no consideration for other people, no different than cigarette smokers
