I genuinely miss E3. For all its pitfalls and misses, it was still a singular event that brought together all of gaming into a certain wonder. Now we just feel like Reggie year around.

Really didn’t think I’d miss it, but damn do I absolutely miss it.

There was a sort of “magic” to the spectacle of having all the big names in one place, i guess. It’s just not something any indivual announcement can capture.

E3 is a really weird concept. A company presents a series of upcoming game trailers with zero game play involved and the fans feel compelled to gauge who won E3 based on who was the least cringe.

Nintendo was hit and miss, every time. When they had something to show off they went hard and really stoked the passion of their fans but when it wasn’t that they were completely forgettable. “We don’t have any handhelds or consoles to show off..and the guy who makes smash brothers we ended up working to death so, uh, here’s Nintendogs 2!”

Microsoft was just like, “Yeah, here’s an assload of games, half are vaporware, and some weird hardware add-on crap we made for the new Xbox. Speaking of new Xbox here’s the Xbox Elite One S 2000.

Sony was the weird one. “Here’s lots of racing and sports games!…Ok, now here’s the concert you wanted to see!”

But really the fans won every year because it was the ultimate hype machine if you were remotely interested in upcoming games.

the Ghost of Tsushima reveal with the live flute player was magical. The hype I had for that game pushed me to finally get a PS4.

A bunch of trailers in a live stream, just sort of mashed together, doesnt hit the same. The old E3 was awesome

Same. Some years ago the E3 was a great event where we had game reveals, preview and other by the major software house.

    I miss the old E3
