Fascism is indeed on the rise and the connection between the continued vilification of LGBTQ people is such a terrifying, obvious problem. I’m reading a biography right now on the Wilhelm Reich and what it says about 1920’s Austria/Germany is sobering–one of the early tentpoles of the NAZI movement and Italian Fascists was turning on ANYTHING that did not fit the mold of the “Reproducing Aryan Family”.
That’s really what it comes down to with these people. It’s a breeding cult, and part of being in that cult is maintaining a certain message which must be spread at all costs, and anything that is an alternative to that message needs to be erased and put into the realm of amnesia.
Whether on mistake or on purpose, there’s a reason why 1890-1920 is so undertaught in High School. American Education is scandalized by the fact that to teach that period would mean that you would also have to teach about Worker’s Rights, Reproduction Issues, Racial Issues, Gender issues…because this has alllll happened before and it alllll went down the memory hole after WW2.
