I like it better than Zemeckis’ upcoming version, but it’s GDT doing Stop Motion so it was always an easy sell for me. Happy it’s getting a theatrical release first.

I’ve never understood why the same movie, or a movie with the same subject, get released around the same time each year. Like we have a live action Pinocchio this year too don’t we? Do the studios just catch wind of what everyone is making and try to make the same thing to compete? This happens almost every year with one or two movies and I’ve always wondered about it.

    Yet another Pinocchio movie

    *I sleep*

It’s a stop motion film made by Guillermo del Toro, and it has a Ewan McGregor cricket

    *Real shit?*

Everything about this just looks incredible. The stop motion is actually out of this world and it reminds me of James and the Giant Peach’s art style

Hopefully the movie reflects more of the original story of Pinocchio. Much darker, and Pinocchio was an asshole.

If you like stop motion, I recommend The House that came out earlier this year. Don’t think many people watched it unfortunately but it’s very eerie and very good (and beautifully animated).

I was already excited for this for a while. I love Del Toro and puppetry/stop motion animation. It always feels magical and nostalgic to me because I grew up with a lot of that stuff in Europe.

One of my favorite parts of Hellboy 2, was the opening sequence with story of the Golden Army, using puppets. It was just beautiful!

The moment I heard Ewan McGregor’s voice in the trailer I was like “Omg, yesss!”

This looks like it’s gonna be an amazing and heartfelt movie, just right for my favorite time of the year.

This looks magical. It’s always been one of my most hyped movies of the year, and it looks as good or better than I expected. Guillermo Del Toro is my favorite director and he’s never made a bad movie. I’m really excited to see this!

Yep, that Blue Fairy is Del Toro’s. The whole thing looks spooky and lovely. I am guessing Netflix is gunning for that best animated Oscar this year with this given the release date. I really hope they get it. They do put out great animated movies. An Oscar would boost them to keep it up. It also helps that they really haven’t had much competition from Disney/Pixar this year. Turning Red was a fine movie. Not great but fine. Lightyear was average as well. Not much else so far from anyone else.
