This is my favourite era of Carlin’s work, and yet it isn’t really even funny. People are laughing but all he’s doing is spouting wisdom. People are laughing not because it’s hilarious, but because we laugh when discover a truth. Ah-Ha!

With each passing year, George Carlin’s rants on religion and politics only seems to get more salient. And it’s still funny! Not many other comedians could pull that sort of thing off. But Carlin truly was one of a kind.

“When asked if he believed in God, Carlin responded, “No. No, there’s no God, but there might be some sort of an organizing intelligence, and I think to understand it is way beyond our ability.””

Found this on Wikipedia. That just sounds like another conception of God to me?

Fun part is, when i was a teenager and I was thinking about life, meaning, religion (I come from Poland, even today religion is very very important here) and our place in the universe I concluded that my god is sun, just like Egyptians etc. Just like what I discovered later, George Carlin concluded himself too.

    My reasoning was below:

    1. If there is a ‘classic’ God, it has 0 impact on our life here on earth, regardless if we believe or not (except for karma shit and owning our own faith). Main principal here is that there’s life after death which I don’t believe in, so you need to pray to go to heaven.
    2. If sun changes its state (star aging), life on earth is over the same moment.
    3. Sun gives energy, it fulfills my life. I come from Central eu, so the summer and sunny days are something special. Sun can change me from being sad to be hopeful and happy.
    4. Sun is central object of solar system. It’s superior to planets. I don’t think there is a more important object for Earth in the universe than Sun.
    5. You don’t need to pray to the Sun. Its just there. It doesn’t care, it’s a star. You don’t need to go to church, donate money, it doesn’t have any expectations.
    6. You can actually see its there, it’s real. You don’t need to imagine it.
    7. All my ‘religion’ is all about, to appreciate Sun is there, it gives us perfect conditions to live, it makes me appreciate I’m alive. Later in my life I concluded another thing about stars, but more about it later.

At that time there was no YouTube, i did not understand English well enough. After few years when I was in my university, I found out George Carlin. I watched few videos and it was funny and interesting. Then I watched his take on religion. I was shocked. Someone else came to similar conclusions about religion, sun and life on earth. George Carlin became my role model. His approach to life, open-mindedness is so simple yet helps answering most disturbing questions. It’s hard to live without hope to have another life after death. But better understanding of our place in the universe and denying artificial gods, created for profit and manipulation of civilizations, helps accepting the truth which is that we are what we eat and we will become what eats our body.

    Bonus theory :

While I did a lot of thinking about universe, life, aliens I figured out something. To understand this we need to explain basic things like relativity and dimensions. Being 3d creatures, we can only see in 2d. You can’t see whats inside box, you can only see its walls. Just like microorganisms in petri dish can only move and thus live in 2d, they don’t understand what’s living in 3d is like, they can’t communicate with us nor understand our principals of life.

We, as higher dimensional creatures do understand lower and smaller forms of life. But we do not understand higher and bigger forms of life. Not only this, but we are egocentric and assume universe is all about our tier of life. We only seek aliens of our own tier or lower.

With this said, I believe main principal of life in universe is energy production. Our own bodies do produce energy. Same with smaller organisms and bigger. We acknowledged that stars are fission reactors. But nobody wants to believe, stars are alive. They might have consciousness at levels we can’t imagine. Maybe stars can talk with each other. Maybe thanks to the gravity and winds and other forms of waves they are real 4d ‘creatures’, because their energy can penetrate matter. (radiation)

Thing is, stars live few billions years. If we wanted to measure and find patterns in its activity, our whole life wouldn’t be even 1/1000000000000 of a single letter in terms of our way of communicating.

I believe we are looking for aliens wrong way. Stars are alive objects in our universe, they have life cycle, produce energy and are way too big for humans to understand it, just like ants don’t understand humans, they just know we are up there.

Thus I seriously believe Stars are aliens and Sun is our ‘God’ which we as a civilization seek so desperately. Just like we don’t have direct impact on each ants life, sun doesn’t directly control life on earth. It just doesn’t care.
