I knew the second I watched this that it would be a force when awards season came. I don’t typically care about this kind of thing, but I’m happy for them. Truly a unique film.
My inner child chuckling watching Short Round bouncing around Indy one more time.
Did [he say](https://youtu.be/0O2B6ywhqQw?t=119) “no person is more important than profits”? That seems like a horrible thing to think, or am I missing some context about it?
A24 is in a league of there own and has been for a while now. It’s great to see them crush the Oscar’s like they did. This is just the beginning for them.
“No one is more important than profits.” Well said.
So glad this won best picture. Truly an incredible film!
This is why I supported expanding the category to ten nominees. I doubt this wonderfully weird little film would have even made the cut with only five slots given Hollywood’s historic need to make sure they recognize the “important” films. When they expanded the list to ten, they made room for members to still do that if they wanted to, but it opened up others to debate what an “important film” even is. I mean, if the category had been limited to five, I bet it would have been Banshees, Fabelmans, Tar and Women Talking while Avatar, Top Gun, Elvis, Triangle of Sadness and, the eventual winner, would have been left out; despite EEAAO winning so many other awards from other places.
I liked the film. I just wish Asians could make it in Hollywood without being goofy on film. But if that’s what it takes then that’s how it’s gotta be.
