You get 40,000 miles per install
how do you get the steel out or do you
Wait until they inflate it
Effective, no doubt. I wonder how long they last.
Maybe that doesn’t matter in a place of cheap labor and an abundance of discarded tires. They can be replaced as needed.
That’s another way to Upcycle I guess
I’m pretty sure the source is tires.
Lots of weight, I’d guess.
The smell… the rubbery gross runoff decay
I’d hate to be the guy who has to replace this…
Yeah, this won’t pass inspection
Disintegrating tires release methane. And heaven forbid that house burns. Toxic fumes all over. This is nasty.
What’s the fire rating on those bad boys?
No solar for this roof!
The source is ms paint
You’d have to be real confident in the structure of the house. That roof is going to be a LOT heavier than a normal roof. Otherwise seems like a neat idea.
I saw these on the roof of a Michelin star restaurant once.
I hope that’s not somewhere it gets hot. Imagine that baking in heat of a hot afternoon sun.
Smells like burnouts.
I’m tired of these comments.
Economical? Four of those cost me $600.
Enjoy your roof cancer.
Good idea, but wouldn’t be a good idea to use that water anywhere around the house
This is really where the rubber meets the roof.
Tires are the top source of microplastics in our rivers lakes and oceans
hmmm rubber rot in your rain water well.
It’s a great idea but it will be a real pig when you have to put the winter tyres on.

In case anyone decides to do this….
They can NOT be radial (steel inlay) tires.
The steel rust and lights the tire on fire….
What’s the mileage like?
Will using snow tires just keep the snow on the roof?
Was gonna do this to my roof but couldn’t get any traction with the wife.
I just came here for the tyre puns 🙂
Fucking brilliant. You’d go through a lot of chop saw blades to cut them to size, but I love it!
Insurance still wants a new roof every 5 years
That’s at least +3 defense against hail storms.
YMMV
