I dont get it
No matter even if its not anime i always prefer subs because its the original audio
Either and/or really
Whatever’s available
Even if I am not eating, subs are always on.
Dubs without question. If you say subs you are wrong. Anime is primarily a visual medium. Reading subs means you miss out on the most defining aspect.
Disagree? Watch an anime with no sound then listen to one with no pictures. Qed.
Thank you very much for enlightening me on something of which I had literally zero knowledge.
Subs are always good whether it be the vehicle or the sandwich.
I read right to left and got so confused
This is fantastic. 😂
I watch English and German content in OV because I speak both languages but I don’t watch anime with subtitles.
I can’t stand the Japanese in Animes, it’s just too much screaming and I get a headache after a while.
Actually the original sound was also dubbed, in Japanese.
Lmao
Ah, yes, the authenticity of not understanding a word and missing half the plot, just read a manga man
I prefer dubs, but I do watch sub too sometimes. Honestly, I just feel the excitment of a show more, when I can understand what the characters are saying. And substitles are kind of distracting sometimes
hold up-
Any comedy anime must be watched dubbed.
The jokes won’t hit right otherwise.
I like dubs better. I can appriciate what’s happening on screen better and non-japenese voice acting has gotten a lot better since the 00’s.
By hearing the original lines I can better notice when the translation is nonsense.
Probably one of the few that doesn’t mind either.
When I’m playing games, or watching with the g/f, I prefer dub… because I can still pick up everything, but don’t have to devote all my time to paying attention
When I watch for the details and the full story, I’ll watch sub because then you get the tone and inflections (that the dub usually doesn’t have).
I don’t prefer one over the other. I enjoy them both.
[When you don’t pay attention and accidentaly tell on yourself:](https://youtu.be/p9YxEc9Q8IQ)
Dub. Unless the dub sucks
I want to watch subbed because it sounds more natural but my brain doesn’t work properly so I have to watch dubbed.
Ya see, it’s funny because of the misunderstanding of the word “sub”, see? So, there fore,it’s funny. Get it? Please laugh.
When you’re used to subs your entire life (it’s the norm where I’m from for pretty much anything that isn’t made in the native language), dub just feels weird.
Anime is the one place where you can probably get away with watching the dubbed soundtrack but I started off watching one punch man in dubbed and switched to the original soundtrack and the original with subtitles was better.
The only dub I’ll watch is ghost stories
I started out dubbed but soon grew to like watching subbed
“authentic” lmao yeah cause looking at the bottom of the screen instead of the action just to know what’s going on is so authentic
Subs are for pretentious weebs. Dubs may not always be great but at least you’re not fooling yourself into thinking you’re consuming the anime in the intended way.
subs > dubs
if you don’t believe this universal truth you’re just wrong
subs and dubs don’t matter, I’ve noticed though that uh, subs are kinda more for anime-over-obsessers and casual people tend to watch in dubs.
99% of the time in anime the mouth and lips barely move, it’s just open and close, so you usually can’t tell if it’s off anyway.
Good dubs > subs > bad dubs
Why prefer some dubs over subs? Because it makes it easier to watch the actual show itself and appreciate the animation. It’s not *hard* to read subs, but it can sometimes mean missing details or dialogue because you’re focused on one or the other.
Not funny
Comments I was hoping for: Hehe submissive and breedable
Comments I found: Yes of course subbed is superior in every way because you get to see the true meaning of the bjkpl sj9awjan isoxnaanqlpsa
The proper answer is both.
Dubs not matching the subs made out of the translations are S tier content and sometimes completely changes the story.
These comments completely ignoring the kink joke are the most reddit thing ever.
Regardless of opinion you are required to watch Ghost Stories dubbed.
Subs usually do have better performances, but dubs have more “voice variety”
For example, there’s this robot character in the anime Space Dandy
In the sub, she just sounds like a normal woman. In the dub, she sounds like a woman, but with an auto tuned voice, since she’s a robot
What I’m saying is sub voice actors just sound like, well, voice actors. While dub actors can sound un-human-like to fit the character they’re voicing (if they’re not human or something)
Nice comic, OP! I hope I don’t offend with a couple of thoughts:
-That font is a little hard to read compared to *anime ace* or *badaboom*.
-Your first panel burns [a beat that you could use to double up at the end](https://i.imgur.com/QILgjZK.png) (or ditch entirely and knock it down to 6 panels)
I really like the style you’ve got going, hope to see more!
It really depends on the anime.
On the one hand subs often have a bit more nuanced performances whole dubs are either super serious or super childish. On the other hand sometimes dub voicing can feel more genuine and natural to me, just because I’m a native English speaker, so some vocal mannerisms in the sub sound awkward because English speakers don’t talk that way.
But it also comes down to who is doing the sub and who is doing the dub.
I wouldn’t want to watch DragonBall Z with subs because I just can’t take Goku seriously.
But I’ve also watched the Marik v Joey duel in both sub and dub and it’s just a totally different experience when the dub actually takes it seriously and the sub kinda makes it seem like a joke.
Sometimes it even comes down to a single character. I’ve been watching Spy x Family recently and both do a pretty good job, but Anyas dub voice just makes me grit my teeth.
It depends on the anime and my first time viewing. I first watched Cowboy Bebop dubbed and I prefer it this way.
Cringey? Yes. Funny? No.
Dubbed anime has never been good and never will be 😁
I used to think I would only ever watch subs, but I decided to rewatch Season 1 of 3% with the dub and it was as bad as I expected, except for the actress who dubbed Michele, who completely nailed the feel of the main character.
Why could this one person do it when no one else could? Is there hope for dubbing? Turns out the original actress is bilingual. Back to no dubs!
That being said, AoT dubbed is so bad, it’s good. Probably worth it for a laugh.
I like dubs because I’m usually multitasking when I watch shows and want to hear what they’re saying
This is a lot of panels for a pretty obvious joke.
Dubs for life! The original va is usually whiney and annoying and the subs are terribly translated
