Dirt 2 was the most fun arcade racer with best presentation and soundtrack

  • after GRID and then Dirt 2 i thought Codemasters racers would be a new addiction of mine, the engine was awesome, the gameplay was just the right mix of Arcade yet not crappy Need for Speed physics.

…and then it kind of all went downhill, instead of adding new features and functionality they tossed out cockpit view, made some odd decisions in general, like, Dirt 2 i could drive around as much as i wanted with my favorite car and tune and tweak it to be the perfect fit for my playstyle, Dirt 3 every race forces me to use another car from another class so i never feel like i’m getting used to any of them, they all have their own quirks and … didn’t even finish.
…and then it all fell off the radar for me.

And i could not for the live of me be bothered with the yearly updated F1 licensed games… tried 2 or 3 of them, felt like the same thing over and over.

And my god… the naming scheme of GRID has me so confused

    2009 GRID
    2018 GRID 2
    2019 GRID (again???)
    2022 GRID Legends

i don’t even know whats going on anymore with this franchise.
and i completely lost track of DIRT after the Ken Block phase was over and they went back to more traditional rally (i have never learned or understood the weird call outs the co driver makes…) and less Gymkhana stuff.

You know what, i think i’ll throw some of that stuff on my Steam Deck and see if it works.
