This is no laughing matter.
This is an ailment called Dewott’s Syndrome. It results in Pikachu having their ears on their butt, and their tail grows out the top of their head. Pikachu that are affected by this will not learn Agility and will be very clumsy and have poor balance, and won’t see any stat increases from a Light Ball usage.
Trainers whose pikachu are affected are **strongly** encouraged not to expose them to a thunderstone.
The origin of this ailment is also where the name came from. During a battle, an inexperienced Trainer’s Pikachu got it’s ears and tail sliced off by a Dewott’s Razor Shell. The trainer, who was inexperienced at training Pokemon but apparently a competent surgeon, managed to graft the ears and tail back on, but did so incorrectly, resulting in the now famous ailment. It spread due to this inexperienced trainer deciding to breed their pokemon afterwards. Genetic memory allows egg moves and in this case also caused there to be a chance for this disorder to be passed down.
When a Pichu egg hatches, it will be easy to see when it is affected by this ailment. If so, it is strongly encouraged that you get to a Pokemon center right away. It might be possible to fix the issue before it evolves. It becomes much more difficult to treat if your Pichu evolves, however; At that point the only known treatment is the Mareanie Protocol; this protocol involves surgical alterations to your Pikachu to put the ears and tail where they should go, followed by a strict and rather unpleasant regimen involving Toxic, Poison Jab, and occasional Hyper Potion. Mareanie’s poison has strange powers when it comes to healing, despite the effect on the rest of the body, and this allows the ears and tail to heal such that the nerves work correctly and prevents necrotization.
**DO NOT ATTEMPT THE MAREANIE PROTOCOL WITH A TOXAPEX**
