Definitely a beneficiary of the extra game, Dak missed a game and was still able to break the record in 16 games.

All yearly records are now worthless with the extra game

Edit – I’m staying it’s worthless to compare yearly stats against records of players who played a season with fewer games and a smaller chance to come back after injuries. All yearly stats that aren’t average should be started a new

Tony Romo was my favorite athlete to watch. He always captivated me whenever I would watch him play. Whenever Romo played you never knew if something good or bad would happen. He could have a monster game throwing to Jason Witten or he could throw an interception to blow a game late in the 4th quarter. It didn’t matter what he did in any particular game as I was always interested to see what was in-store next week.

My time watching Romo was always a roller coaster of emotions.

That being said I was devastated when Romo got injured and Dak came and took his job. However, overtime Dak has grown on me tremendously overtime and I would now consider him to be one of my favorite players to watch each week.

I watched the game tonight and was rooting for Dak to break the record tonight and was ecstatic he did.

I don’t know what the moral of this story is but it felt like a “circle of life” type of thing.

Who cares? Season records are going to be smashed because of the extra game, they don’t mean anything anymore. Get it done in 16 games, or you’ve got nothing to brag about.

It’s not really comparable with an extra game now. This season is the beginning of a new era and should be asterisks when comparing records like this to older ones.

Don’t forget Romo set it in 16 game season, not 17.

    * Not a Romo fan. Hate him. He’s a fucking turtle under pressure.

Back in 1989 I witnessed a talented junior high basketball player score on Jordan at a basketball camp. He didn’t exactly let him either, kid was special and it was awesome. Too bad he never did his homework and was ineligible for most of HS.

regular season records with one game more are not the same

it’s like setting the 100 yard dash world record on an 80 yard race

Pretty easy when you have an entire extra game, a cupcake schedule, and playing said extra game entirely against backups…

There are *a lot* of single season records being broken this year all of which are going to need an asterisk next to them on account of the 18 week season

The year is 2039, the NFL regular season is 32 games, quarterbacks are throwing only 1 touchdown a game, yet almost every single team QB beating so many franchise records.

Can we just establish eras when talking about sporting records. Like every record from this year would be the first in the 17 game era. Stop all this talk about well he had an extra game so it doesn’t really count.

  • Optimus_RE

Records mean absolutely nothing now with an extra game. If he didn’t get it by week 17 then he didn’t beat the record. Don’t care if he missed games or not, it’s not his record and same with Watt
