Risk of Rain 2, a unique 3rd person rogue-like. Also a fan of Valheim, as close to a souls like survival game as you can get right now.

Just played through SOMA, if u think ud like the psychological horror/heart wrenching story stuff u will definitely enjoy SOMA. I recommend getting it when its on sale and its only 12-14 hours a playthrough.

Bloons holy crap!! Wasted many hours on Bloons back in the day. Have you tried the Talos Principle? One of my all time favorite puzzle/story games.

Depends on your game style! But based on some of them, starbound is a great game (the ethics behind the creating company not so much tho), Deadcells has a similar dungeon crawler feel to Hollow Knight, so does Neon Abyss.

If your into zombie survival, Project Zomboid is a must! Or if you’re more into military I recommend Foxhole or Squad. My personal favorites ofc!

Because of your enjoyment of Hollow Knight and other metroidvanias, I’d suggest both Guacamelee and Shovel Knight. If you want something more Celeste-like, maybe VVVVVV or Super Meat Boy.

Subnautica is an underwater survival/exploration game that involves crafting. Quality, and it’s sequel Below Zero is also great.

The Witness and The Talos Principle, which others have suggested, are things I recommend as well. They’re fantastic puzzle games. I hear good things about Antichamber, but I’ve yet to play it. Return of the Obra Dinn plays differently than other puzzle games (more of an interlocking puzzle mystery to solve) but is also fun.

If you like indie games there are a lot of gems in steam:

Outer wilds, this one I think you need to be in a specific mood to play it, the game is not linear and you can feel lost some times, some people play games to finish it, this game is more about exploring.

Blasphemous, if you like platformers, a lot of people said this one is on par with hollow knight, but is really gore and for some people is not so pleasant to the eye but if you like the aesthetic, is one of the best.

Project Zomboid, is the ultimate survival experience, is a hard game, you will die eventually no matter what you do, is a game where you test how much you survive, the game doesn’t feel unfair in my opinion, every time you died is because you made a mistake or you weren’t cautious.

RimWorld, maybe I’m a little biased about this one, for me one of the best game in steam, the best story teller ever created, is a colony survival simulator, without to many spoilers, you have a colony, you tell them there are task they have to do and the members of the colony will decide wich task they want to make, you cannot take control of them, you have to treat them as people, they have their own personalities and their own decisions, this is what create the story, I really recommend this one to try it.

Tunic, maybe this one is the most famous, and probably you already heard about it, is just beautiful and the gameplay is just so smooth, the map and shortcuts are so well made that for a lot of people is a masterpiece, but if you don’t like dificult games maybe you won’t like this one, is not like extremely hard but can be a challenge sometimes.

Valheim, even if only early access, this game is one of the best explore/survival/craft, one of the best aspect of this game is, that is not super overwhelming with they craft options you unlocked them little by little and the manage to do it in a way that even if you are not good a this type of game you can enjoy it.

There are a lot other good ones, this thread is already too long, but to mention some others that are extremely good I would say Paper Please, Return of the Obre Dinn (this one is about solving a case), The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe, Metal Hellsinger (this one if you like metal) and obviously Hades.

And to finish I wanted to recommend a game called Rain World, is a survival platformer, I played this game because I saw a video of how this game was made and maybe that is why I liked so much, is one of the most impressive games I ever played, aesthetically I don’t like it, but the way it was made just blows my mind, I’ll share the video [here](https://youtu.be/GMx8OsTDHfM).

Edit: just to clarify not all this games are indie games.

You should try out S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl, imo its better than fallout, maybe not in graphics but it’s definitely not your ever day post apocalyptic game, there are 9 factions that span over the zone, along this a verity of mutants than are all unique. While your out be careful of the 9 different types of anomalies that are all over from things that lift you in the air and eviscerate you to a sentient fireball that hovers around looking for it’s next victim. + it has an amazing modding community to tweak and enhance the game to how you want. And it’s only $5.99 rn
