Anyone has fond memories of your PS2? Whipped mine out to play only to see these cables and I traveled through time for a second.

I found a converter and she still works!!! Can’t wait to play DMC3 again XD
I love my PS2. I have my original and it still works great.
For sure, I play mine every now and again too. My memory cards have been lost to time, which is annoying.
Oh the days of putting these in and feeling like a 7 year old tech genius. Damn wish I’d have kept my old consoles. Never knew how much I’d miss them!
High tech, I was RFU gang.
Goosebumps seeing the cables!
The best feeling when the game actually worked first try after waiting through the starting animation. Good times, good times
Anyone remember Scart leads? God they were awful…
Oh no! Now I remember that I left my PS2 at my ex girlfriend’s house when I moved out in 2010. Nooooo.
I also still have that chunky ps2. Oh boy, so many memories.
I gotta check it out if it still works.
I remember using these up to PS3, for some reason the box didn’t include HDMI back then, so I was forced to still use the SCART. Then a friend of mine suggested me to get HDMI, saying the image is much sharper, so I bought HDMI and OH MY GOD, what a difference!
I got a gamecube too with these cables. But trust me, there are adapters 😉
Couldn’t you use a scart lead on the PS2 as well?
I’d get a component cable for it, or Scart.
Mayo, mustard, ketchup
I remember when I first picked up one of those Sony DVD remotes for PS2. Being able to turn on or reset the PS2 without having to get off my chair?! It was the most high tech thing I’ve ever seen. You could even mess with people playing games on the PS2 because the DVD remote included PS2 controller buttons!
“I’m a hand model, mama. A finger jockey. We think differently than the face and body boys… we’re a different breed.”
Yup. RCAs had been the standard for so long you have to remember they were named after the RADIO Corporation of America. But like folk say you can get adapters. I’ve got my Atari 2600 going TO RCA and then an RCA to HDMI adapter from there.
Yes I remember when I got my 1st ps2. I got hit wheel velocity X and ratchet and clank! Still love both these games to this day. I have almost every Ratchet and Clank game on physical discs
The golden days of playing gta Vice City as a kid. Wish I could travel back in time to just binge that game as a kid again for a day.
I remember my friend bringing over his PS2 only to find out that my TV didn’t have AV input. Had a little blocky CRT in my bedroom where I watched nothing but cartoon network~
Had this odd moment where the same friend asked me to play Tarzan for him, he just didn’t have the hand/eye coördination for it. I got past the part and tried to hand him back the controller because the game just didn’t interest me- He refused on the grounds that he’d ‘never seen someone play Tarzan so good’. I thought it was really creepy but then Let’s Plays became a thing.
Ah I used to have a multi-scart adaptor with the PS2, Xbox and GameCube on the three channels. Loved those days. Seemed like a big game was coming out every other week
Oh boy, I gotta boot it up and hop on Armored Core 3
My friends got me one as a housewarming gift. It’s kind of surreal just going “oh yeah i never played that one, I should go find that on eBay” Where previously I spent so much time pondering that wall of games at blockbuster, trying to make the most out of a weekend rental at dads house.
Hell yeah… years where Electronic Arts made some pretty awesome games. SSX3, Ace Combat 5, Burnout 3: Takedown!, NBA Street: Vol 2… that was my jam.
I still use my PS2 quite often. I never have to update anything, never have to download anything, never have to have the internet involved. It’s just beautiful, pure gaming from a time when the mysterious ancients did mysterious things we can’t even fathom today. Like… games were finished when they were released. Can you imagine?
You can get HDMI cables for the PS2 on Amazon. They work well.
Last time I checked mine was still working, but it was gathering dust and my dad had one of his coworkers interested, he asked me if he could just give it to him, this happened at the very first months of Covid19 and gladly said “yeah, let’s get this legend rolling once again”
So I handed it over with 200 games or something.
This is why I don’t feel like I’m really ‘missing’ anything by keeping my PS5 in Performance Mode.
I grew up with NES and Sega and those RCA cables. 1440p/60fps is already beyond my wildest dreams.
Man..I just saw this picture and had immediate flashbacks to my tiny grey box TV, and needing to put something under the 3 pins otherwise they wouldn’t work, almost like a busted phone charger/port 😂😂
Simpler times man
Those cables are the exact reason my Gamecube is still in my grandmothers house. That and the fact that my sister’s think I’ll let them anywhere near, when they break just about every electronic device they get their hands on, that isn’t theirs
No one does. It’s only one of the best selling consoles in consoles history.
Yeah. RCA Cables.
Repeat Continuum Apparatus.
Best part was when you bought a brand new game, IT WORKED!!!
Are you a hand model? 😂
I remember being amazed that characters had individual fingers instead of block hands.
I actually just got done playing Gran Turismo 3 on my PS2
A former friend of mine borrowed my ps2 back around 2010 and sold it because he thought I said he could have it. Pretty sure he sold it for drugs honestly. Was bummed out until years later my now wife moved in and to my surprise she had 3 ps2 consoles. Yesterday I played a bit of champions of norrath. The nostalgia hurt so good..
This monster was the first console I really played
If your tv has component inputs, do yourself a favor and upgrade your cables to the component cables. It makes a huge difference in picture quality.
Still love playing my PS2. I have that, my N64, and GameCube hooked up to an analog switch box so I can swap between them without messing with cables
